Job description

Finance Director / Director, FP&A - Complex Mission-Driven Organization
A large, mission-driven organization is seeking a Finance Director / Director of FP&A to report directly to the CFO and serve as a key finance partner across the organization.
This is a senior finance leadership role focused on budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, reporting, financial analysis, and executive-level decision support. The role will partner closely with senior leadership and operational teams to improve financial visibility, strengthen planning processes, and support disciplined resource allocation across a complex organization.
The ideal candidate will bring strong FP&A experience, excellent financial modeling and reporting skills, and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for both finance and non-finance leaders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
  • Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, and scenario planning tools
  • Develop reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making
  • Analyze financial trends, budget variances, KPIs, and key business drivers
  • Create dashboards, reporting packages, and management presentations
  • Partner with senior leadership and operational teams to improve financial visibility and accountability
  • Support planning and analysis for new initiatives, investments, and organizational priorities
  • Improve reporting automation, forecasting tools, and financial planning processes
  • Help strengthen financial management practices across a complex operating environment
  • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the finance team

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 8+ years of progressive FP&A, finance, or financial planning experience
  • Prior experience leading or developing finance team members
  • Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting skills
  • Ability to turn data into clear insights and practical recommendations
  • Experience supporting a large, complex organization with multiple departments, programs, business units, or funding streams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with non-finance stakeholders
  • Hands-on, analytical, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Process-improvement mindset with experience enhancing reporting, planning, or analytical tools

Preferred Background
  • CPA, MBA, or advanced finance/accounting background preferred
  • Experience in complex service-oriented, mission-driven, or publicly funded environments
  • Exposure to restricted or program-specific funding structures
  • Experience with enterprise-level planning, ERP, BI, dashboarding, or reporting tools
