Instructor Developer V—Cyber Subject Matter Expert

General Duties:

Aleut is in search of a highly motivated individual to develop, instruct, validate, and maintain distance learning cyberspace operations course material at the 319th Combat Training Squadron, Peterson SFB CO in support of the USSF Officer Training Course Distance Learning (OTC-DL). 

Specific duties:

  • Develop and deliver asynchronous distance learning cyberspace operations course materials consistent with the principles of Instructional Systems Design (ISD), and aligned to instructions, security classification guides, and other guidance as identified
  • Maintain distance learning office hours for no more than 10 hours a week
  • Assist students with Distance Learning, Learning Management System (LMS) and remote on-boarding activities
  • Interface with internal and external cyber agencies as required to update and maintain a state-of-the-art training program regarding cyber tactics, tools, and exploits
  • Perform in-residence instruction on a quarterly basis or as directed
  • Assist in LMS course setup, content delivery, and student performance tracking
  • Participate in course reviews, updates, and continuous improvement efforts

  • Work on-site – minimal telework authorized

Required Skills:

  • Broad, instructor-level understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing/switching fundamentals, subnetting, VLANs, VPNs, and core network services (DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S)
  • Working proficiency across Windows and Linux operating systems, including system administration, permissions, logging, and system hardening
  • Ability to teach basic offensive cybersecurity fundamentals, including reconnaissance, scanning, enumeration, exploitation techniques, and post-exploitation concepts
  • Ability to teach defensive cybersecurity principles, including threat detection, log analysis, SIEM fundamentals, IDS/IPS, and incident response methodologies
  • Understanding of common vulnerabilities and attack vectors
  • Knowledge of network and host-based security controls, including firewalls, EDR, antivirus, and auditing/logging mechanisms
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) to support instruction and lab development
  • Ability to explain and demonstrate cryptographic concepts, including encryption, hashing, PKI, and secure communications
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver distance learning content, including asynchronous modules, recorded lectures, and interactive exercises
  • Proficiency with LMS and eLearning standards (e.g., SCORM) for course delivery and tracking
  • Strong instructional capability to translate complex cyber topics into structured, measurable learning objectives
  • Effective communication skills for online instruction and learner engagement across diverse technical backgrounds
  • Active or current Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility required

Education and Required Experience:

Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in relevant field or a bachelor’s degree and 8 years of additional experience may be substituted for education requirement

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 years of cyber-related experience either in industry, academia, or with a U.S. Government agency

Preferred Certifications:

  • Sec+, GSEC, CySA or equivalents

Salary Range:

  • $130,000 -- $159,000 (annually)
