Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Coordinator, Digital Pathology. 
The Digital Pathology Coordinator will support both the operational and computational research functions of the digital pathology program. In addition to operating and maintaining whole slide imaging systems and associated software platforms, this role will contribute to computational pathology research by assisting with data management, image preprocessing, and execution of research workflows. Responsibilities include high-quality slide scanning, quality assessment of digital images, dataset curation, and hands-on support for research teams developing and validating machine learning models. The coordinator will collaborate closely with pathology laboratory staff, pathologists, and computational investigators to ensure digital imaging, data integrity, and research pipelines meet standards for accurate diagnosis and robust scientific discovery. This position reports directly to the Digital Pathology Operations Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

    1. Works with the Digital Pathology Research Medical Director and staff pathologists to oversee and improve digital pathology workflows for research use cases.
    2. Operates and maintains whole slide imaging systems, digital scanners, and associated software platforms.
    3. Prepares and scans slides for digital analysis, ensuring high-throughput and uniform image quality.
    4. Performs quality control and quality assurance assessments of digital pathology research images and associated metadata.
    5. Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines, institutional protocols, and research data governance standards.
    6. Collaborates with laboratory staff, pathologists, and computational research teams to support study-specific imaging and digital data needs.
    7. Performs data entry and manages digital pathology datasets/databases, including organization, labeling, curation, and maintenance of research-ready repositories.
    8. Supports computational pathology research by helping with data queries, dataset management, and organizing digital pathology data in HPC and research computing environments under investigator direction.
    9. Troubleshoots technical issues with scanners, software platforms, and research computing workflows; coordinates with technical support and research IT groups.
    10. Maintains equipment and performs regular maintenance checks to ensure optimal scanner and software functionality.
    11. Manages digital slide inventory for research studies.
    12. Supports OSR and research projects as assigned by the Director of Digital Pathology, Research.
    13. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in computer science, biomedical engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Strong organizational skills and general data handling.
Excellent computer skills, including SQL, Microsoft Excel, and experience with large datasets.
Working knowledge of process improvement methodology.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an anatomic pathology laboratory or digital pathology research environment.
Experience with digital pathology imaging software, research workflows, or computational analysis tools.
CPHQ/CPPS, Lean, or Six Sigma certification.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
