This position is remote-friendly.

Overview

Alteryx is seeking a Director, Developer Platform Engineering to own the strategy and evolution of the platforms, tooling, and practices that power software delivery org-wide. You'll lead the Developer Experience vision — enabling 600+ engineers to build, test, deploy, and operate software faster and more reliably. Your team covers developer productivity, CI/CD, testing infrastructure, local dev environments, release engineering, and AI-powered engineering enablement. Reporting directly to SVP of Engineering, you'll partner with Product Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, SRE, and Architecture to define the technical strategy and roadmap that lets teams ship faster with less operational complexity.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Platform Strategy — Define the long-term vision for Alteryx’s Developer Platform; build a roadmap that standardizes the SDLC and scales across hundreds of engineers.
  • Developer Experience — Own the developer journey end-to-end, from local dev to production; reduce friction across builds, testing, and deployment; champion self-service capabilities.
  • CI/CD & Release Engineering — Modernize CI/CD platforms; standardize pipelines; drive GitOps and progressive delivery (canary, blue/green).
  • Integration Testing — Establish testing strategy and scalable infrastructure for unit and integration testing.
  • AI-Enabled Engineering — Lead adoption of GenAI and agentic tooling for coding, testing, and docs; define responsible-use best practices.
  • Metrics & Operational Excellence — Define KPIs for developer productivity and platform health; build dashboards to guide investment.
  • Leadership — Recruit and grow a high-performing org; mentor managers and senior engineers; align stakeholders across Engineering.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years in software engineering, with significant experience leading platform engineering or developer infrastructure teams.
  • 5+ years leading managers in large technical organizations.
  • Proven track record setting platform strategy for orgs with hundreds of engineers.
  • Deep knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and developer experience practices.
  • Experience leading large-scale engineering transformations.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence.
Preferred Technical Experience
  • Kubernetes on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux).
  • Build systems (Gradle, Bazel, Nx) and testing infrastructure across unit/integration/e2e/performance.
  • Progressive deployment (canary, blue/green, feature flags) and IDPs/developer portals.
  • DevEx metrics frameworks (DORA, SPACE) and observability platforms.
  • AI-powered dev tools (GitHub Copilot, Anthropic, agentic workflows).

Compensation

Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation is determined by several factors, including but not limited to relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location. The salary range for this role in the United States is $200,000 - $250,000. Bonus payouts are based on individual and company performance. In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, this role includes clear forms of additional compensation, such as:

  • A monthly Connectivity Plus stipend of $150 to support remote work-related expenses
  • An annual $200 home office reimbursement
