Job description

Job Summary:

The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the sales and marketing efforts of the hotel to maximize revenue opportunities and achieve sales targets. This role involves developing and implementing strategic sales plans, managing key accounts, and working closely with the General Manager and leadership team to ensure business goals are met. The Director of Sales will oversee a team of sales professionals and is instrumental in fostering strong client relationships and promoting the hotel's brand and services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to achieve revenue and occupancy goals.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify new business opportunities and areas for growth.
  • Establish annual sales goals, budgets, and sales action plans in collaboration with the General Manager.

2. Revenue Management:

  • Work closely with the Revenue Management team to optimize pricing and inventory strategies.
  • Analyze market trends, demand forecasts, and competitive data to make informed business decisions.

3. Client Relationship Management:

  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, including corporate accounts, travel agencies, and group planners.
  • Conduct site visits, sales calls, and client entertainment to build and maintain rapport with key stakeholders.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, industry events, and networking functions.

4. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team to achieve individual and team targets.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and identify training needs.
  • Foster a positive team environment that promotes collaboration and high performance.

5. Marketing and Brand Promotion:

  • Oversee the creation and implementation of marketing initiatives, including digital marketing, advertising, and promotional events.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent brand messaging and visibility.

6. Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance metrics to the General Manager and ownership group.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, market trends, and competitive landscape to adjust strategies as needed.

7. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other departments, including Operations, Food & Beverage, and Front Office, to ensure alignment of sales strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Act as a liaison between the hotel and external partners, vendors, and clients.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor?s degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in hotel sales, with at least 3 years in a senior sales management role.
  • Skills:
    • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
    • Proficiency in sales and marketing software, including CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge:
    • In-depth understanding of the hospitality industry, local market dynamics, and key business drivers.
    • Familiarity with revenue management practices and digital marketing trends.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to travel for business purposes as needed and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
