Job Opportunity: ASC Registered Nurse (PACU) - Michigan Surgical

Location: Utica, MI (11051 Hall Road) - Utica Office Only (No Travel Required) Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday Hours: Shifts start between 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM and end between 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM (Working 8.5 to 9-hour days, totaling 40-42 hours per week) Work-Life Balance: No Nights, No Weekends

About the Role

Michigan Surgical is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Registered Nurse for our PACU/Pre-Op department. This position is located entirely at our Utica office, operating within a high-energy, fast-paced surgery center that specializes in performing advanced urological procedures.

As an essential member of our healthcare team, you will handle the assessment, planning, implementation, and coordination of care during the critical pre- and post-operative phases. You will ensure a safe, high-quality recovery environment in accordance with post-anesthesia standards of care.

Position Requirements
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certifications: Active RN license in the state of Michigan. BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Experience: 2 years of pre-operative/post-anesthesia experience preferred; background or familiarity with urological procedures is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, proficiency with healthcare systems (EMR), and a commitment to exceptional patient service and strict HIPAA compliance.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The ASC Registered Nurse - PACU is an essential member of the health care team who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating the care of patients in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The RN consistently delivers high-quality patient care during the pre- and post-operative phase of the patient's stay in the surgery center.ย ย 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIESย 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plans and organizes the daily activities of the Pre-operative and PACU areas in accordance with instructions of the clinical director, physicians and the center's administrative procedures.
  • Responsible for the provision of a safe environment by following the post anesthesia standards of care.
  • Communicates the patient's current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.
  • Performs interventions to maintain the status of the patient's genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels.
  • Performs interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection.
  • Assesses and provides appropriate and knowledgeable instructions/training/education to patients and family members throughout the perioperative process.
  • Reports and documents all pertinent observations and nursing interventions.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • RN license and certification as required by state.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS required.

  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years' pre-operative/post-anesthesia experience preferred.
