Job description

ASC Registered Nurse

At Vision Integrated Partners, we are seeking an experienced ASC Registered Nurse to join our team. The Registered Nurse will assist in the organization and daily function of the practice and surgery center in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards and Center policies and procedures. Care for patients preparing for their surgical procedure. Monitor patient's vital signs and continuously evaluate patient recovery from anesthesia. May assist anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians.

This position requires floating to our Northland location 1 day per week. Circulating & Instrument Turnover duties as needed

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS include the following:

  • Ability to collect clinical data with patient's medical and nursing care. Ability to set priorities.
  • Patient preparation for surgical procedures
  • Post-Operative patient education
  • Circulating within the OR and instrument turnover
  • Ability to communicate well with patients, families, teammates, physicians, other members of the healthcare team.
  • Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice.
  • Assesses, plans, evaluates and ensures the implementation of the patient's care to achieve identified outcomes and delivers safe patient care according to facility policy and procedure.
  • Assesses patient status on admission and on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge.
  • Adheres to all facility policies and procedures when providing patient care.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide for patient care in emergency situations.
  • Assesses learning needs according to patient's level of understanding and readiness to learn.
  • Participates in the monitoring and evaluation of nursing care provided.
  • Assumes charge nurse responsibility as assigned.
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills.
  • History and physical assessment of patient.
  • Completes review of medical record.
  • Admits patient according to procedure.
  • Promotes physical comfort and provide emotional support and safety for patient.
  • Administers and charts medications as ordered by physician.
  • Reinforces and clarifies physician instructions and explanation of procedures to patient.
  • Provides nursing care and appropriate monitoring according to policies and procedures.
  • Verifies surgical/procedure site with patient and according to surgical schedule and patient History and Physical.
  • Obtains and verifies operative/procedure consent.
  • Provides instructions according to patient need.
  • Completes nursing documentation.
  • Provides emergency care according to physician and administrative policy.
  • Assists with preoperative and postoperative patient calls.
  • Reviews charts for completeness and signatures of physicians.
  • Maintains an environment that promotes safety:
  • Temperature range
  • Electrical safety measures
  • Oxygen and Suction Equipment
  • Resuscitation Equipment
  • Control of Contamination

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility:

  • Current State RN license.
  • If BLS and ACLS are not current upon hire, successful completion of a course is required within 90 days of hire.
  • One (1) year of experience in PreOp preferred.
