Job description

Description:

Digital Marketing Manager

American General Media (AGM)
Department: Sales & Digital Marketing
Reports To: Executive Leadership
Level: Manager
Markets: All AGM Markets

Position Summary

American General Media is seeking a results-driven Digital Marketing Manager to lead digital marketing strategy, campaign execution, and digital sales support across all AGM markets.

This is a hands-on, revenue-focused role that bridges digital marketing, sales, and campaign execution. The Digital Marketing Manager will work directly with AGM sales leadership and Account Executives to develop digital strategies for clients, participate in client presentations, overcome objections, and help close the deal.

The successful candidate will understand both the technical and sales sides of digital advertising. This individual must be able to translate a client's business objectives into a clear digital strategy, confidently explain the value of AGM's digital products, and ensure campaigns are properly executed after the sale.

This position supports all AGM markets and serves as a company-wide resource for digital revenue growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Digital Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and lead AGM's digital sales strategy across all markets.
  • Identify opportunities to increase digital revenue within existing and new client relationships.
  • Partner with General Managers, Sales Managers, and Account Executives to develop digital solutions based on client goals, budgets, and target audiences.
  • Assist sales teams with identifying digital opportunities during the prospecting and needs-analysis process.
  • Develop integrated marketing strategies combining AGM's traditional broadcast assets with digital advertising solutions when appropriate.
  • Evaluate client needs and recommend the appropriate mix of digital products and services.
  • Help establish digital revenue goals, priorities, and sales initiatives across AGM markets.
  • Track digital sales performance and identify opportunities for additional growth.

Sales Conversion & Revenue Growth

The Digital Marketing Manager is expected to be an active participant in the sales process—not simply a resource behind the scenes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Join Account Executives in client meetings and sales presentations when digital expertise can help move an opportunity forward.
  • Present digital strategies, campaign recommendations, and proposals directly to prospective and existing clients.
  • Clearly communicate how recommended digital products support the client's business objectives.
  • Explain digital terminology, targeting capabilities, measurement, attribution, and expected campaign outcomes in a way clients can understand.
  • Address client questions and objections related to digital advertising.
  • Assist Account Executives with proposal development and pricing strategy.
  • Provide recommendations that help move opportunities from proposal to client commitment.
  • Participate in follow-up conversations when necessary to help secure the business.
  • Identify opportunities to expand or upsell digital services within existing client relationships.
  • Maintain a strong sense of urgency around open digital opportunities.

The objective is simple: develop the right solution, communicate its value, and help close the deal.

Campaign Strategy & Execution

  • Oversee the development, launch, and execution of digital advertising campaigns across AGM markets.
  • Translate sold proposals into clear campaign strategies and execution plans.
  • Coordinate campaign assets, targeting, budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Ensure campaigns launch accurately and on schedule.
  • Monitor campaign pacing and performance.
  • Identify underperforming campaigns and recommend adjustments.
  • Work with internal teams, vendors, and platform partners to troubleshoot campaign issues.
  • Review campaign reporting and translate results into meaningful insights for clients and Account Executives.
  • Develop recommendations for campaign optimization, renewal, and expansion.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of campaign requirements, approvals, and changes.

Digital Products & Solutions

The Digital Marketing Manager should have working knowledge of digital advertising solutions including, but not limited to:

  • Connected TV (CTV) / OTT
  • Streaming audio
  • Programmatic display
  • Video advertising
  • Geofencing and location-based advertising
  • Search Engine Marketing (SEM/PPC)
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Paid social media advertising
  • Website development and optimization
  • Retargeting
  • Audience targeting
  • Email marketing
  • Digital sponsorships
  • Lead-generation campaigns
  • Campaign analytics, attribution, and reporting

AGM's digital product offerings may evolve, and the Digital Marketing Manager will be expected to stay current on emerging platforms, technologies, and advertising opportunities.

Sales Team Partnership

  • Serve as a digital subject-matter expert for AGM Account Executives and sales leadership.
  • Help Account Executives prepare for digital client meetings.
  • Review client needs and recommend appropriate digital strategies.
  • Assist with proposal development and presentation preparation.
  • Participate in client-facing meetings when additional digital expertise is needed.
  • Help Account Executives understand how to position and sell AGM's digital products.
  • Provide coaching regarding digital terminology, products, targeting, reporting, and campaign strategy.
  • Share successful strategies and best practices across AGM markets.
  • Help create a consistent digital sales approach throughout the organization.

The Digital Marketing Manager is expected to support and strengthen the Account Executive's client relationship rather than replace it.

Client Strategy & Relationship Support

  • Participate in discovery meetings to understand client goals, challenges, target customers, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop digital recommendations based on measurable business objectives.
  • Assist with presenting campaign results and recommendations to clients.
  • Identify opportunities for renewals, upsells, and expanded digital partnerships.
  • Build credibility with clients as a knowledgeable digital marketing resource.
  • Ensure recommendations are appropriate for the client's goals and budget.

Cross-Market Leadership

Because this position supports all AGM markets, the Digital Marketing Manager must be able to effectively prioritize opportunities and work with multiple teams simultaneously.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with market General Managers and Sales Managers on digital revenue initiatives.
  • Maintain consistent digital sales and campaign standards across AGM.
  • Share successful campaigns, strategies, and case studies between markets.
  • Identify company-wide digital revenue opportunities.
  • Assist leadership with evaluating digital products, platforms, and vendor relationships.
  • Provide regular updates regarding digital revenue, opportunities, campaign performance, and operational needs.
Requirements:

  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex digital concepts in clear, business-focused language.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns, markets, clients, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret campaign performance data.
  • Comfortable working in a revenue-driven sales environment.

Preferred

  • Experience within radio, broadcast media, digital media, advertising, or an agency environment.
  • Experience supporting multiple sales teams or geographic markets.
  • Experience with programmatic advertising, CTV/OTT, streaming audio, paid search, paid social, geofencing, and related digital products.
  • Experience participating directly in digital sales presentations and closing conversations.
  • Experience working with third-party digital advertising vendors and platforms.

  • Campaign management
  • Problem solving

Performance in this position may be evaluated based on:

  • Growth in company-wide digital revenue
  • Digital revenue by market
  • Digital proposal close rates
  • Digital revenue generated from new business
  • Growth of digital revenue within existing accounts
  • Campaign retention and renewal rates
  • Campaign accuracy and successful execution
  • Client satisfaction and campaign performance
  • Responsiveness to Account Executives and market leadership
  • Development and adoption of digital sales strategies across AGM
  • Ability to help move digital opportunities from prospect to proposal to closed business

Role Philosophy

The Digital Marketing Manager is expected to operate at the intersection of strategy, execution, and sales.

This position does not simply recommend digital products and hand the opportunity back to the sales team. The Digital Marketing Manager stays engaged throughout the process—helping identify the opportunity, developing the strategy, presenting the solution, addressing objections, assisting in closing the business, and ensuring the campaign is successfully executed.

The goal is to give every AGM market access to strong digital expertise that helps our Account Executives compete more effectively, provide better solutions to our clients, and grow AGM's overall digital revenue.
