Job description

Systems Engineer (Expert‑Level) – Digital Engineering Lead

Mission Intelligence Group is seeking an Expert‑Level Systems Engineer / Digital Engineering Lead to provide senior technical leadership across complex GEOINT systems. This role supports mission‑critical capabilities spanning the National System of Geospatial‑Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial‑Intelligence (ASG), and Federal partners.


Your Role

As the Digital Engineering Lead, you will guide multi‑discipline engineering teams across the full systems lifecycle, ensuring solutions are resilient, scalable, and aligned with mission objectives. You will operate at the enterprise level, advising senior stakeholders and integrating emerging digital engineering practices across GEOINT systems‑of‑systems.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Government in directing requirements engineering, solutions engineering, integration, test & evaluation, sustainment, and analysis across NSG, ASG, and Federal Agencies
  • Lead planning and requirements traceability across users, architectures, procedures, and systems
  • Advise on solution design changes based on requirements analysis and emerging technologies
  • Translate mission and customer needs into system and capability requirements and solutions
  • Support allocation of requirements to systems architecture components and executing programs
  • Assist in performing systems integration activities
  • Lead and support AoAs, CoAs, trade studies, and engineering assessments
  • Provide strategic input on technical planning, program management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design
  • Deliver expert guidance linking vision, strategy, plans, requirements, and capability development
  • Integrate and oversee efforts across multiple Major Systems Acquisitions
  • Oversee and coordinate Senior‑, Mid‑, and Junior‑level Systems Engineers

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience:
    • 4 additional years of experience with no degree, or
    • 2 additional years with a non‑STEM degree
  • Experience supporting:
    • DoD / IC Acquisition, Requirements, and PPBES processes, or
    • Systems engineering of large‑scale System‑of‑Systems or SOA environments across cloud, on‑premise, or hybrid infrastructures
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle
  • 3+ years of OPIR experience
  • 3+ years of ISPO experience
  • SAFe or Agile certification, such as:
    • SAFe Program Consultant
    • SAFe Agilist
    • Certified Scrum Master
  • Experience with program planning and resource management
  • Working knowledge of Agile tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence)
  • Demonstrated experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NSG/ASG and NRO enterprises
  • Prior NGA and/or NSG/ASG program or project experience
  • Prior IC or DoD program/project experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with senior officials
  • Active TS/SCI clearance, with ability to obtain SCI and successfully pass a polygraph

Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field
  • Working knowledge of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, tools, and languages
  • Software Development Framework experience or certification
  • INCOSE Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP) certification
  • Professional licensure (PE or equivalent)
  • Membership or leadership participation in professional organizations, such as:
    • ACSM
    • ASCE
    • ASPRS
    • OGC
    • SAREM
    • USGIF
  • Extensive experience in geospatial intelligence
  • Experience engineering solutions using:
    • Cloud‑based technologies
    • Structured and unstructured Big Data
    • Automation, Augmentation, and Artificial Intelligence
  • Working knowledge of photogrammetry, remote sensing, image science, GIS, geomatics, or related fields
  • 2+ years of Cloud Engineering experience and/or relevant certifications
  • Network Engineering knowledge (experience a plus)
