Position Summary
The Lead, Platform Engineer provides senior execution-oriented technical leadership within Guild's Platform Engineering & Developer Experience organization. The role is responsible for translating platform capability objectives and architectural direction into effective engineering execution across the IT Factory platform ecosystem.
Operating primarily within IT Factory, the Lead, Platform Engineer combines broad technical competency with hands-on engineering leadership to improve execution effectiveness, implementation consistency, and engineering predictability across Platform Engineering initiatives. The role works across software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, quality engineering, security, IAM, and related technical disciplines to identify execution constraints, remove technical blockers, reinforce implementation discipline, and improve engineering outcomes.
The Lead, Platform Engineer partners closely with Domain Architecture, Platform Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Platform Engineering leadership, DevOps, QA, Security, IAM, and adjacent delivery organizations to operationalize architectural direction, reinforce architectural continuity, and improve execution outcomes where upstream and downstream implementation dependencies exist. Within IT Factory, this role commonly fulfills the Technical Delivery Lead (TDL) responsibilities for platform engineering initiatives, providing execution leadership while remaining actively engaged in engineering implementation.
This role improves engineering effectiveness through technical leadership, implementation guidance, execution visibility, engineering mentorship, and disciplined engineering execution. • Provide execution-oriented technical leadership across software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), quality engineering, security, IAM, and related Factory capabilities to align implementation activities, resolve execution constraints, and improve engineering effectiveness where upstream and downstream implementation dependencies exist.
  • Improve implementation effectiveness by identifying execution constraints, surfacing technical dependencies early, removing engineering blockers, reinforcing implementation sequencing, and improving execution visibility across Platform Engineering initiatives.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through active participation in engineering design, implementation guidance, troubleshooting, technical mentoring, and execution support.
  • Partner closely with Domain Architecture, Platform Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, and Platform Engineering leadership to operationalize architectural direction, align implementation with established architectural guidance, and reinforce long-term architectural continuity through engineering execution.
  • Provide visibility into execution risks, implementation constraints, technical dependencies, and sequencing impacts affecting Platform Engineering initiatives while supporting informed engineering and delivery decisions.
  • Support implementation and operationalization of reusable platform capabilities through consistent engineering practices, reusable implementation patterns, and architecture-aligned engineering execution.
  • Guide engineers through complex implementation scenarios while reinforcing distributed engineering ownership, technical accountability, implementation quality, and disciplined engineering execution.
  • Mentor and develop engineers through technical leadership, implementation coaching, engineering best practices, architectural guidance, and execution-oriented leadership.
  • Contribute to the evolution of reusable platform capabilities, engineering workflows, automation, implementation patterns, and engineering practices that strengthen the IT Factory operating model and improve long-term engineering effectiveness.
  • Support operational readiness, implementation stability, production validation, and technical issue resolution for platform capabilities while partnering with DevOps, SRE, and operational teams that retain runtime operational ownership.
  • Serve as the Technical Delivery Lead (TDL) for Platform Engineering initiatives where designated, reinforcing implementation sequencing, execution readiness, technical dependency alignment, and engineering execution across the IT Factory platform ecosystem.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
