Job Description:
The WCM Digital Developer supports Marketing and Digital Experience by developing and delivering web content across Southwest Airlines' digital channels, including Southwest.com, mobile applications, and Inflight Portals. They'll utilize front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Content Management Systems to build responsive, accessible, and technically sound digital experiences that meet Customer and business needs. They'll write, test, document, and implement web solutions while supporting production issue resolution and ensuring content is optimized across devices and platforms. The WCM Digital Developer leverages strong technical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills to deliver seamless digital experiences that enhance Customer engagement across Southwest's owned properties.
Additional Details
  • This role allows for voluntary remote work for the majority of your working time within the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with occasional on-site presence at our Corporate Campus for training, meetings, and business needs. This role may also require limited travel for business purposes.

Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge and skills of software development, automation process, and testing effectively to solve a range of problems
  • Work alongside other Developers and Engineers on the team to elevate the Digital Experience and consistently apply best practices
  • Collaborate closely with Business Owners, Product Owners, and cross-functional departments to communicate project statuses and meet deadlines
  • Partner with Team Members and Leader to assess the needs of the user/business and then create technical solutions to meet the requirements
  • Identify and resolve issues that arise during the design, testing, and maintenance processes using problem-solving skills
  • Work in a fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality, technical implementations across a variety of on premise and cloud-based Service as a Software (SaaS) platforms
  • Execute, maintain, and optimize tasks and projects based on specifications, programming standards, and best practices while adhering to project timelines
  • Improve and expand technical capabilities by continuing their education through reading, workshops, conferences, and/or communities of practice
  • Create, deliver, and maintain Webpages, Websites, and Web properties using expert level knowledge of, including, but not limited to, HTML, CSS, JS development, testing, quality control, and deployment
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Intermediate knowledge of development methodologies, practices, concepts, and technologies obtained through formal training and / or work experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS code standards and ability to independently troubleshoot rendering issues in a wide array of configurations, browsers, device types
  • Intermediate knowledge of the required programming languages, HTML, CSS, and JS
  • Intermediate knowledge of web and mobile apps development best practices and passion to stay ahead of marketing trends in the channel
  • Ability to demonstrate consistent knowledge application, skills of front-end development, and testing to solve a range of problems
  • Ability to partner, communicate, and negotiate with various Technology, Marketing, Digital Experience, or Customer Experience Teams
  • Ability to analyze requests and assist with vague Business or technical problems, articulating the problem or root cause, and translating the analysis into viable solution recommendations
  • Ability to take on multiple assignments, whether administrative or project related, while maintaining a successful level of completion in all responsible work

Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience
  • Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
    • HTML5, CSS3, or JS
    • Concepts, practices, and procedures within enterprise Content Management Systems such as OpenText TeamSite and Adobe Experience Manager
    • Chrome developer, jQuery, Code Repository tools

  • Preferred: Familiarity with Enterprise level CMS and Content Authoring

Pay & Benefits:
  • Competitive market salary from $89,450-$99,400* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
