Job description

Position Summary
The Senior Web Tagging & Analytics Analyst supports digital product, marketing, IT, and operations teams by implementing and maintaining web tagging and analytics solutions across AutoNation digital properties. This role ensures accurate, reliable, and compliant data collection to support analytics, marketing optimization, and business decision-making.
Responsibilities
Support, document, maintain, and extend the digital analytics tagging infrastructure.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to deploy and maintain accurate website tracking through the implementation and configuration of web tags.
Develop, implement, and maintain vendor and agency tags in Tealium, and understand tagging impacts on digital advertising campaigns.
Lead tagging QA and validation, including pre- and post-release testing, and partner with Product and Engineering to confirm tracking acceptance prior to launches.
Monitor tagging health and data quality through ongoing validation, audits, and troubleshooting to proactively identify regressions or data gaps.
Support CCPA and consent-management compliance by partnering with internal teams and external vendors.
Read and write JavaScript within the tag management system to implement custom tracking, debug issues, and perform QA.
Write SQL queries to validate tracking accuracy, analyze funnel performance, and investigate discrepancies in digital analytics data.
Administer and support Google Analytics and Tealium, including troubleshooting and user support.
Partner with analytics and business stakeholders to support custom reporting and dashboards and ensure data is trustworthy and actionable.

  • Improved confidence in analytics data used for reporting and optimization.

  • Timely identification and resolution of tracking issues tied to releases, vendor changes, or consent requirements.

  • Strong cross-functional alignment on tracking expectations and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience with tag management systems such as Tealium or Google Tag Manager.

  • Experience writing SQL queries and performing quantitative analysis.

  • Strong ability to read and write JavaScript (or similar scripting) within tag management tools.

  • Hands-on experience with debugging tools such as Chrome Developer Tools, Tealium Debugger, Adswerve Data Layer Inspector, or similar.

  • Proven experience administering Google Analytics.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with clear ownership of issues through resolution.
