The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher is dedicated to supporting students with hearing impairments by providing specialized instruction tailored to their unique learning needs. This role involves creating an inclusive classroom environment, developing individualized education plans, and collaborating with families and professionals to foster academic and social success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for DHH students
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students’ hearing and communication needs
- Utilize assistive technologies and communication strategies, including sign language
- Collaborate with speech therapists, audiologists, and other specialists
- Monitor and assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Provide support and training to families regarding their child’s educational development
- Promote social integration and communication skills among students
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in special education
- State Special Education Teaching Certification
