Operations Manager — Data Center Deployment & Project Operations

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager — Data Center Deployment & Project Operations to oversee large-scale infrastructure deployment activities at data centers across the United States. This role requires a highly organized, hands-on professional who can manage multiple deployment workstreams, coordinate onsite activities, and ensure successful execution of complex hardware installation and technology refresh projects.

This is a 100% onsite, travel-based position. The selected candidate will travel to various data center locations nationwide, with each assignment varying in duration based on project scope, workload, and deployment requirements.

Position Responsibilities
  • Serve as the onsite operational lead for large-scale data center deployment projects.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple concurrent deployment workstreams, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within defined objectives.
  • Provide onsite leadership, direction, and communication between internal teams, customers, vendors, and technical resources.
  • Oversee server, rack, and infrastructure deployment activities within enterprise data center environments.
  • Manage daily project execution, including resource coordination, task prioritization, issue escalation, and progress reporting.
  • Track project milestones, identify potential risks, and implement solutions to maintain successful delivery.
  • Validate installation quality, adherence to procedures, and completion of deployment activities.
  • Support inventory management, logistics coordination, and equipment tracking throughout deployment engagements.
  • Create and maintain project documentation, status updates, and operational reports.
  • Ensure all onsite activities follow established safety, security, and data center operational standards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in IT infrastructure, data center operations, or enterprise hardware environments.
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale technology deployments, infrastructure rollouts, or data center projects.
  • Strong understanding of server, rack, and hardware installation processes.
  • Experience managing multiple deployment activities or project workstreams simultaneously.
  • Ability to coordinate technical teams, prioritize competing tasks, and drive projects to completion.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States.
  • Ability to work onsite at various data center locations for extended project assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing enterprise data center buildouts, migrations, refreshes, or hardware deployment projects.
  • Background in server hardware, networking equipment, storage systems, or related infrastructure technologies.
  • Previous experience leading technicians, field engineers, or deployment teams.
  • Project management experience with large-scale IT infrastructure initiatives.
  • Familiarity with data center best practices, structured cabling, rack layouts, and hardware lifecycle activities.
  • Project management certifications (PMP, CAPM, ITIL, or similar) are a plus.
Travel Requirements
  • This position requires significant nationwide travel.
  • Travel schedules will vary based on project scope and customer requirements.
  • Each onsite assignment may range from several weeks to several months depending on deployment volume and infrastructure requirements.
