The Assistant Vice President (AVP), DevOps Project Manager leads technology projects that improve mortgage operations and business performance. This role serves as the primary connection between Operations, IT, Development, and Executive Leadership, ensuring projects are planned, prioritized, developed, tested, and successfully implemented.
The ideal candidate combines project management, business analysis, and mortgage operations experience with the ability to communicate effectively between technical teams and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technology and operational projects from planning through implementation.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, priorities, and project updates.
  • Track project progress and resolve risks or issues.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and meet business objectives.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Operations and the Development team.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications.
  • Create and manage user stories, tasks, bugs, and enhancement requests.
  • Prioritize project backlogs with business and technology leaders.
  • Partner with IT and Development to improve mortgage systems and workflows.
  • Support system enhancements, integrations, and automation initiatives.
  • Coordinate software testing, deployments, and production releases.
  • Help ensure technology solutions are reliable, secure, and scalable.
  • Coordinate training for new system features and process changes.
  • Develop user guides, release notes, and training materials.
  • Communicate system updates and implementation timelines to stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency throughout the loan lifecycle.
  • Support initiatives involving loan origination, processing, underwriting, closing, and servicing.
  • Monitor project results and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure projects comply with company, investor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Compliance, Risk, and Information Security teams as needed.
  • Mentor project team members and promote collaboration across departments.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Project Management, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of experience in mortgage banking, project management, technology, or business operations.
  • 5+ years managing cross-functional projects.
  • Experience working with mortgage technology platforms and Loan Origination Systems (LOS). Encompass preferred.
  • Experience serving as a liaison between business users and software development teams.
  • Preferred Certifications: PMP, Agile or Scrum Certification, Lean Six Sigma, Azure DevOps or AWS DevOps Certification
  • Strong understanding of residential mortgage operations and the loan lifecycle.
  • Experience with Agile project management and software development processes.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps, Jira, ClickUp, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Experience leading technology implementations, software releases, and process improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
