SIGN-ON BONUS AVAILABLE
POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Under general supervision, but according to established histologic standards and procedures, prepares surgical and autopsy specimens for gross and microscopic examination by the pathologist in diagnosing disease and assessing tissue and organ function/condition. Capable of performing all duties of an AP Support Assistant. Provides assistance to pathologist during special procedures; prepares all necessary testing and processing solutions and reagents; ensures that all specimens are properly identified, labeled, and logged and that quality control measures are conducted and maintained. Performs related clerical activities such as filing, maintaining records, and processing charges. Completes clerical tasks, when necessary for the Pathology group. Performs all moderate and highly complex histologic procedures utilizing sophisticated instrumentation to provide the pathologist with slides for microscopic examination and interpretation in the treatment and diagnosis of disease. Performs tasks associated with Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) testing and digital pathology. Accountable for all tasks and responsibilities as designated by the CLIA rule and/or delegations made as a result (laboratory documentation delineates this specific information). Fulfills the expectation for the completion of all responsibilities as determined by the applicable CLIA role.Duties are performed under the supervision of the AP General Specialist, AP Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Administrative Director/Site Laboratory Manager and the Laboratory Medical Director.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors of Science degree. HTL (ASCP); If, at the time of hire, candidate qualifies to sit for the HTL examination, the candidate must pass certification within 1 year of hire.
