Laboratory Supervisor

The successful candidate:

***This position will oversee laboratory staff within our outpatient care centers and travel as necessary to these sites.***

Under the general supervision of the Administrative Laboratory Director, the Laboratory Supervisor plans, organizes, and oversees the operational activities of the hospital and OCC Laboratory and Phlebotomy Departments. Assists Medical Technologists/Technicians and other laboratory staff in day-to-day operations. Maintains technical abilities to evaluate, instruct, and assist in assigned sections of the laboratory. Creates an effective working relationship with all employees. Maintains technical expertise in specifically assigned sections of the laboratory and phlebotomy departments while ensuring compliance with accrediting agencies' standards. Performs a variety of routine laboratory tests within assigned responsibilities in the laboratory, requiring independent judgment, with speed and accuracy. The efforts of the individual in this position, in collaboration with other health care professionals, provide data for the most accurate diagnosis or individual treatment of diseases for optimum patient outcomes. Assumes the authority and responsibilities of the Administrative Laboratory Director in their absence and can make sound decisions that range the full scope of the laboratory. Represents, as assigned, the laboratory at various meetings and committees. Oversees projects related to future Laboratory endeavors. All other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences or related field required

Minimum Experience: 3 years' experience working laboratory management role

Req. Certification/Licensure: ASCP or AMT Certified
