Job description

Finance Manager

Cutler Real Estate is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. The Finance Manager will supervise the accounting team, ensure accurate financial reporting across multiple affiliated companies, support strong internal controls, and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role offers the opportunity to play an integral part in the company's continued growth and financial modernization.

This position offers an outstanding opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to grow into the Controller role while partnering closely with the Chief Financial Officer to modernize financial operations and lead the accounting function.



Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations across eight affiliated companies, including monthly and annual close activities.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Supervise and develop the accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Commission Accounting personnel.
  • Review journal entries, general ledger activity, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist the CFO in maintaining internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Coordinate with external accountants during annual financial statement reviews, tax preparation, and other reporting requirements.
  • Oversee daily cash management activities, banking transactions, ACH processing, and wire transfers.
  • Monitor intercompany transactions and ensure accurate recording across affiliated entities.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and other financial systems.
  • Assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and special projects.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company's real estate, title, and affiliated business operations.




Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support to the accounting team.
  • Assist with workload planning, cross-training, performance coaching, and employee development.
  • Help document accounting procedures and promote operational continuity.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 2–5 years of accounting leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Business Central, or another ERP system preferred.
  • CPA designation preferred but not required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
