Job description

JOB TITLE: DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT
MAIN FUNCTION:
Serves as main support person to the Philanthropy Department for Cayuga Medical Center Foundation (CMCF), Schuyler Health Foundation (SHF), and The Cancer Resource Center (CRC). Assists with all special events and fund-raising activities with the goal of providing support and increased revenues. Will provide support for the Cayuga Medical Center and Schuyler gift shops. Attention to detail is essential in all aspects of the position. Reports to the Directors of CMCF and SHF and will be expected to provide support for the department and respond to requests for information from members of the Foundation Boards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
** 1. Is responsible for the management of the Raiser's Edge fund-raising database, including gift entry, biographical updates, tracking relationships with stakeholders, and reporting and monitoring progress. Responsible for making all gift deposits, along with accurate and timely entries and processing all gifts received by the Philanthropy Office for Cayuga Medical Center Foundation, Schuyler Health Foundation and The Cancer Resource Center including contributions from employees.
** 2. Prepare reports for the Accounting Department on gifts, invoices, receipts, sales, pledges, and special contributions for the Philanthropy Department and the Gift Shops. Ensures reports are accurate. Ensures all gifts and receipts are reconciled with accounting and validated monthly.
** 3. Is responsible for the preparation and generation of correspondence to donors. This includes gift acknowledgments with a 72-hour turnaround, timely and accurate pledge reminders, support all recurring gift programs, credit card charges, EFT's and follow-up on any issues with donors as needed.
4. Provides a high level of customer service to patients, donors, prospective supporters, volunteers, staff and maintains strict confidentiality. Takes initiative to ensure all requests are responded to thoughtfully and thoroughly, using appropriate judgment for follow-up.
**5. Is responsible for the overall office management. Provides general office support, answering phones, ordering office supplies, assisting Philanthropy Department staff with projects, including events. Takes, prepares and distributes minutes, in support of the Foundation Boards, Community Advisory Board, Committees, meetings as needed.
6. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.
7. Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and professional way, being attentive to the customer's needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with Centralus Health.
8. It is understood that this job description lists typical duties for the classification and is not to be considered inclusive of all duties which may be assigned.
EDUCATION:
Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Three years minimum in office setting, demonstrated skills in customer service, accurate management of data, attention to detail, and strong writing and editing skills are required. Competency in Microsoft Office required, and experience in fund-raising-based database management and entry is preferred. Specific experience with Raiser's Edge a plus. The candidate must show an ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships among staff, other Medical Center personnel, volunteers and community-at-large. Ability to coordinate department activities harmoniously.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
No CPR Required.
LOCATION:
This position will support CMCF and SHF. Onsite at SHF 1-2 days per week and CMCF the other days.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Some physical effort is required. Light objects lifted with some reaching and stooping.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category III. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
