Job description

Tom James is seeking a Sales Assistant to support the sales efforts of our Grafton office.
The primary focus of this Sales Assistant role is client outreach, appointment setting, and client relationship development. The Sales Assistant will spend approximately two hours per day making outbound calls to current, dormant, less-active, and prospective clients, with the goal of setting appointments and supporting consistent client follow-up.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys client interaction, is comfortable on the phone, and may have an interest in sales or client development.
This position is up to 30 hours per week at $22.00 per hour and is an onsite position.

Responsibilities

Client Outreach and Appointment Setting

  • Make daily outbound calls to current, dormant, less-active, and prospective clients as directed by the Sales Professional
  • Use Tom James’ proprietary system to identify clients, create call lists, track outreach, update client information, and enter referrals
  • Provide regular updates to the Sales Professional about outreach activity, client responses, successes, and challenges

Client Relations

  • Communicate professionally and consistently with clients through phone calls, emails, texts, LinkedIn messages, and thank-you notes
  • Provide client follow-up regarding appointment reminders, order status, promotional messages, and delivery scheduling
  • Assist the Sales Professional with consistent communication to a broader client base
  • Maintain a polished and professional image when interacting with clients

Field Support

  • Accompany the Sales Professional on scheduled client visits as needed
  • Help with client meetings, appointment preparation, and follow-up
  • Pick up and deliver client items as requested
  • Represent Tom James professionally while in the field with the Sales Professional

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Deliver garments to and from the tailor
  • Complete bank deposits as needed
  • Perform other store support tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Attributes

  • Comfortable making outbound phone calls, speaking with clients, and setting appointments
  • Strong phone etiquette and professional communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Docs/Sheets, and LinkedIn
  • Able to quickly learn and use new computer systems, including Tom James’ internal proprietary system
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Sales, client service, appointment-setting, or business development experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Able to bend and lift up to 30 lbs.
