Job description

Position Title: Development Assistant
Department: Development
Classification: Non-Exempt
Employment Type: TSN - Team Spec FT Nexe
Direct Report: Manager, Development
Position Summary
The Development Assistant carries out a variety of administrative tasks, oversees a small amount of fundraising, assists with donor events, and provides overall support to the Development Department.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision and direction of the Manager, Development, the Development Assistant will be responsible for the following:
  1. Handle the correspondence and maintain the files for individual donors, foundations, corporate partners and other donors.
  2. Manage the gift acknowledgement process, including thank you letters and other forms of stewardship.
  3. Maintain the pledge renewal schedule.
  4. Manage the data entry, credit card processing and other steps for internal acknowledgement processing.
  5. Manage the donor database. Run and prepare statistical reports and export mailing lists.
  6. Oversee the Gifts That Give Back program.
  7. Coordinate materials and data in support of giving campaigns.
  8. Support the creation and execution of fundraising events.
  9. Research, enroll and maintain Georgia Aquarium in a variety of online giving platforms.
  10. Provide administrative support and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  1. Proficiency in Microsoft applications and database systems is required.
  2. Candidate should have 2-3 years' experience with development operations.
  3. Experience with membership/donor management programs is preferred. Georgia Aquarium uses Tessitura.
  4. Candidate must have strong writing, analytical and personal skills.
  5. Candidate must also have strong organizational skills, be proactive, detailed oriented, able to work independently and collaborate with others.
  6. Candidate should demonstrate good judgement, initiative and flexibility.
  7. He/she must possess the ability to produce consistently accurate, effective and high-quality results on tight deadlines.
  8. Candidate will be expected to represent the Aquarium and interface with all levels of staff, volunteers and donors while maintaining tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.
  9. Occasional evening and weekends work may be required.
