Job description

Overview

Element has a current opening for a Business Development Manager to help support our growing teams in Eagan and Minnetonka MN. The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding strategic customer relationships, and generating new business opportunities across the Eagan and Minnetonka laboratories. This role supports key medical device, microbiology, validation, and testing service lines while providing dedicated commercial coverage for services transitioned from Cincinnati. The position is critical to building qualified pipeline, advancing opportunities through the sales process, and converting opportunities into profitable revenue. Success will be measured by pipeline creation, revenue growth, customer acquisition, and overall market expansion within targeted industry segments.

Responsibilities
  • Drive new business development activities to generate qualified pipeline and achieve revenue growth targets across Eagan and Minnetonka service offerings.
  • Develop and expand strategic relationships with medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences customers to increase market share and customer retention.
  • Lead opportunities through the complete sales process, including prospecting, qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and revenue conversion.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, CRM discipline, and territory management practices to ensure visibility, accountability, and predictable business results.
  • Partner with laboratory, technical, and operational teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences and identify opportunities for cross-selling and account expansion.
Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Engineering, Microbiology, or a related field; equivalent industry experience considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful business development, sales, or account management experience within the medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO/CDMO, or laboratory testing industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business opportunities, build pipeline, and consistently achieve or exceed revenue targets.
  • Strong consultative selling, relationship-building, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to engage technical and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Proven proficiency in CRM systems, territory management, forecasting, pipeline management, and sales process execution.
