Junior Systems Administrator / Tier 2 Support TechnicianJob Summary

The Junior Systems Administrator / Tier 2 Support Technician provides hands-on technical support and system administration for enterprise Windows and Red Hat environments in regulated, mission-critical settings. This role supports federal, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and private-sector organizations by administering Active Directory, managing endpoint deployments, enforcing security controls, and resolving Tier 2/3 incidents. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, experience with modern device management tools, and the ability to operate within SLA-driven service environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Active Directory user accounts, security groups, permissions, and authentication policies
  • Provide Tier 2 / Tier 3 technical support for Windows 10/11, Windows Server, and Red Hat systems
  • Deploy, reimage, and configure endpoints using SCCM, Intune, and PXE imaging
  • Perform system patching, OS upgrades, BIOS, and firmware updates
  • Configure and support Azure AD, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), PIV authentication, and BitLocker recovery
  • Monitor, manage, and resolve incidents using ServiceNow while meeting SLA requirements
  • Support Windows and macOS systems in regulated enterprise environments
  • Utilize PowerShell to manage user accounts, mailboxes, and permissions
  • Assist with endpoint security, asset management, and compliance controls
  • Mentor and support Tier 1 technicians as needed
  • Maintain technical documentation and follow federal IT best practices
