Position Description:
CGI is seeking a Desktop Packaging Engineer to support enterprise desktop application packaging, deployment, and endpoint management within a highly regulated financial services environment. This role is responsible for creating, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining software packages used across Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop environments, with a focus on reliability, security, automation, and operational efficiency.
We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years!.
This role is located at a client site in Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN or Columbia, SC. A hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
CGI is seeking a Desktop Packaging Engineer to support enterprise desktop application packaging, deployment, and endpoint management within a highly regulated financial services environment. This role is responsible for creating, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining software packages used across Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop environments, with a focus on reliability, security, automation, and operational efficiency.
The engineer will work closely with infrastructure, endpoint engineering, application, security, and operations teams to ensure software is packaged and deployed consistently across large scale enterprise environments. The role may also support cloud integrated desktop management processes, particularly in environments that rely heavily on AWS hosted systems and modern endpoint management practices.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. 2+ years of experience in desktop engineering, desktop application packaging, or application deployment support
. 2+ years of experience managing application deployments across enterprise environments
. Hands on experience with application packaging technologies including MSI, MSIX, and App V
. Strong PowerShell scripting experience for automation, packaging, installation logic, validation, deployment, and troubleshooting
. Experience with deployment and endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM/MECM, InstallShield, or similar enterprise management platforms
. Ability to build, test, troubleshoot, and maintain application packages across enterprise desktop environments
. Solid understanding of Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems, including registry, file systems, permissions, services, Group Policy, and endpoint configuration
. Experience supporting large scale software deployments in a controlled enterprise environment
. Familiarity with change management, release processes, documentation, and production support standards
. Understanding of security requirements, vulnerability remediation, patching, and compliance expectations in financial services environments
. Experience working with AWS heavy or cloud integrated environments is preferred, especially where desktop tools connect to cloud hosted infrastructure
. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, security, application, and operations teams
. Comfortable documenting packaging standards, deployment instructions, known issues, testing results, and rollback procedures
