Job description

 
As a Desktop Engineer, you will drive innovation, evaluate, and implement new technologies, manage advanced tools, and serve as an escalation point in support of our software, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, create and maintain software and hardware roadmaps as well as conference room AV.

You will be critical to helping to keep our organization at the cutting edge of technology, facilitating security and ensuring our users get timely resolutions to a wide array of technical issues. We will expect you to proactively assess the needs of the business and implement technology solutions quickly. We will also rely on you to consistently deliver on the IT department''''''''s service promise and be a good steward of our department brand.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

· Manage and maintain image standards such as templates and images for all end user devices and keep these standards updated with latest updates or upgrades.

· Create a unified and consistent experience across all devices.

· Develop new projects and drive automation to improve end user experiences

· Oversee desktop and laptop lifecycle management; choose refresh technology.

· Guide desktop engineering standards

· Ensure PC images and configurations meet all security and compliance requirements

· Perform security vulnerability mitigation and monthly patching of operating systems and software

· Research and evaluate requests for new hardware or software, including rationalization against existing approved software

· Responsible for the management of systems and applications used to build, deploy, and update operating systems and software

· Formulate workflows enabling our users to best leverage our technology stack

· Participate with senior Information Technology staff in project planning for new application rollouts, evaluations, testing, and special projects related to software/hardware and support systems

· Plan, build, deploy and maintain cutting edge A/V solutions in conference areas, executive offices.

· Create documentation of best practices and standard operating procedures related to the administration and support of operating systems, hardware platforms, and software

· Provide support for issues escalated from Deskside Support Analysts

· Assist with training and mentoring Service Desk and Deskside Support Analysts

· Participate in Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery planning and testing

· Publishing hardware and software roadmaps that are aligned to business and technical needs.

· Responsible for maintaining software inventory and currency.

· Other duties as assigned 

 

Experience / Knowledge:

· Experience building rock solid images and optimizing Windows to provide customers with the best experience possible.

· Experience efficiently and proactively evaluating business needs and proposing cost effective and appropriate solutions based on current technology in the market or industry.

· Experience building excellent A/V solutions in conference areas with latest technology.

· Experience automating software installation packages for deployment or inclusion into VDI master disk images.

· Experience with engineering client software installation packages for deployment to Windows desktops and/or inclusion into VDI master disk images

· Experience creating and maintain VDI master disk images

· Experience working with vSphere

· Experience with Microsoft Windows automation scripting with PowerShell or other scripting languages to reduce manual IT tasks.

· Windows Defender experience is desired

· Experience evaluating hardware and software to guide standards.

· Experience maintaining a software currency program.
