Job Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: (Provide brief summary of position purpose and objectives)

The Desktop Technician job family is responsible for diagnosing and resolving all desktop support issues. This position is also responsible for the implementation of installations and upgrades for software and hardware. This position also provides technical instruction to others. 

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: (indicate % of time devoted to each area of accountability) Please describe the scope of duties involved in each area of responsibility/accountability. If the responsibility spans the Assurant enterprise, please indicate so.

  • Incident and Request Management: 100%
  • Identify, diagnose and resolve desktop issues of low to moderate risk and complexity
  •  Coordinate resolution across Technology Services departmental groups where multiple end-user associates have been impacted
  • Coordinate desktop component and phone moves affecting multiple users
  • Prepare hardware/software installations and participate in upgrades
  • Recognize opportunities for system or procedure improvements and make recommendations
  • Provide training to others (customers)
  • Handles activities of low risk and complexity or pieces of moderate risk activities
  • Manage multiple issues concurrently
  • Business Site potential responsibilities:
  • Collaboration with 3rd party / client providers of software, hardware or service
  •  "Tiered" support responsibilities, including:
  • Office security / badge admin
  • Tape backup admin
  • On site support for Tier 3
  • Office equipment support
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:  

  • 1+ years of professional experience
  •  Knowledge and Skills (List those items required to obtain or maintain position; e.g., required to maintain current license in Electronics.)
  • Functional knowledge of supported client operating systems configuration and installation in a Novell environment, NT and Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7
  • Functional knowledge of Citrix desktop front end and server backend administration
  • Functional understanding of VDI, Server, Telephony and Network support
  • Functional knowledge of supported application configuration and installations
  • Functional knowledge of supported client/server hardware configurations and installations
  • Knowledge of diagnostic tools for problem detection and resolution
  • Knowledge of LAN design and inter-relatedness of distributed systems functions
  • Experience with Disk Imaging and automated software distribution tools and qualities. 
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Environment/Physical demands: (Define any physical demands-strength, agility, mobility abilities- required to perform the job effectively)

  •  Must be able to lift 35 lbs onto multi-level surfaces repeatedly throughout the day
