Job description

In this position, you will be essential in supporting various functions within the department. This position will allow you to gain practical experience, develop professional skills, and contribute to the university community while balancing your academic responsibilities. The principal functions of the position are 1) General Office Support and 2) Event and Program Support. Some weekends and evenings are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Office Support

  • Operate the front desk by greeting guests and answering phone calls

  • Properly distribute mail and direct calls to the appropriate staff members

  • Maintain office organization, coffee station, and general cleanliness

  • Resolve issues by contacting the appropriate departments by submitting Work Orders, IT Requests, or contacting Facility Management

  • Manage swiper check-in at the front desk

  • Assist with facility and operational improvement projects

  • Perform other administrative and clerical tasks as assigned

Event and Program Support

  • Provide support for all department events including research, planning, and logistics

  • Coordinate internal and external collaborations and manage communications with other departments and external vendors

  • Assist with event promotions (tabling, handing out flyers, etc.)

  • Interact with students and manage swiper at events

  • Supervise and aid in the setup and teardown of events

  • Assist with the management of CSER participation within the office and events

  • Assist with CFAW events and programs

  • Represent the department at university events

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Minimum Qualifications
  • LU Undergraduate or Graduate student

  • Eligible for Work-Study

  • Ability to work 18-20 hours per week

  • Flexible schedule: some weekends and evenings required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong computer, administrative, and organizational skills

  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive student information

  • The ideal applicant will give a minimum 1-year commitment to the position
