Material Damage Appraiser

This position is responsible for ensuring the overall quality of auto property damage claims handling, which includes tasks such as appraisal review, subrogation, salvage, total loss, and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigations related to auto property claims. The role requires a high level of expertise in estimating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving property claims. The candidate should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision and act as a resource for other claims personnel.

About the ROLE

Each day at AssuranceAmerica is different, but as a Material Damage Appraiser in Claims, you will:

  • Conduct appraisals from photos and assess/ negotiate additional repairs with body shops to ensure fair costs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with body shops.
  • Document estimate summaries in the claims reporting system.
  • Redline and adjust estimates accordingly.
  • Ensure prompt and timely estimate resolution according to company goals and guidelines.
  • Evaluate totaled vehicles per company guidelines.
  • Handle special projects as needed.
  • Adhere to compliance training to meet state and federal laws.
  • Keep up with new repair techniques, tools, and industry innovations.
  • Hold and maintain required licenses.

About YOU

Required

  • 5 years of P&C insurance background with at least 3 years of appraisal experience.
  • Significant knowledge of repair and total loss techniques and statutory requirements are necessary.

Preferred

  • Undergraduate Degree.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises.
