Job description

smartdept. is searching for a Multimedia Designer for a financial services client located in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will come with 2+ years of experience. This is a project-based, fully remote (hybrid Chicago area a plus), ongoing as-needed contract opportunity with the possibility of continued work.
This Multimedia Designer will support a large internal creative team at a Fortune 200 financial services company. The team runs on the Google ecosystem - candidates must be comfortable working in Google Workspace daily and thinking from the user's perspective. Work spans digital design, branded templates, presentations, and multi-channel publishing. This is an ad hoc bench role, so the ability to ramp up quickly and deliver clean work with minimal hand-holding is key.
What You'll Do:
  • Design and produce digital assets across multiple channels including web, email, and social
  • Build and maintain presentation templates, deck kits, and Google Slides theme kits
  • Create branded graphics, email headers, campaign templates, and event collateral
  • Support large internal events including an annual Data Week conference with templates, branding, and marketing materials
  • Collaborate with creative and communications teams to deliver on-brand work across multiple channels
  • Publish and format content with a strong understanding of different channel mechanics and file formats
  • Ensure work meets accessibility standards and is built to spec for both internal and external use

What You'll Need:
Education/Experience:
  • 2+ years of multimedia or digital design experience required
  • Experience working across multiple digital formats and channels required
  • Portfolio required - should include slide design, branded templates, social assets, data visualization, and document design

Skills:
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) required
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace - especially Google Slides and Google Theme Builder required
  • Solid understanding of multi-channel publishing and digital production workflows
  • Ability to work within brand guidelines and execute consistently across deliverables
  • Comfortable executing independently on fast-turnaround ad hoc projects

Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Experience in a Fortune 200 or large enterprise creative environment
  • Motion design or video editing experience (After Effects, Premiere Pro) - longer term video opportunities may open up
  • Knowledge of accessibility and document design standards
  • Photography or digital asset management experience
