Job description

In-Office Position
General Summary: The Telecommunication Designer position is an entry-level position responsible for completing high-quality coaxial and fiber network designs within customer-provided software platforms for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments. The Telecommunication Designer will work within client design systems to develop and digitize coax and fiber network layouts, including strand maps, design maps, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), in accordance with client standards and specifications. This role is responsible for producing complete and accurate construction deliverable packages, including design drawings, red lines, and supporting documentation required for field deployment. The Telecommunication Designer will collaborate closely with Tech Leads, Project Managers, and internal team members to ensure designs are delivered accurately and on time.
Essential Functions:
  1. Complete coaxial and fiber network designs within customer-provided software platforms after being trained, in accordance with client standards and specifications.
  2. Develop and digitize network layouts including strand maps, design maps, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) within client design systems.
  3. Produce complete and accurate construction deliverable packages, including design drawings, redlines, and supporting documentation required for field deployment.
  4. Execute changes to designs based on red lines, mark-ups, and feedback from Tech Leads and Project Managers on ongoing projects.
  5. Perform quality control checks on completed designs prior to deliverable submission.
  6. Work with Tech Leads, Project Managers, and team members to coordinate workflow and meet project deadlines.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.

This description is a general statement of required essential functions performed on a regular and continuous basis. It does not exclude other duties as assigned.
Non-essential Functions:
  1. A working understanding of the permitting process for utilities and local government agencies.
  2. A working understanding of the joint-use relationship between telecom & utility providers.
  3. A working understanding of common construction practices within an aerial & underground right-of-way.

Qualifications:
  • Must currently be eligible to work in the United States of America.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • High School Graduate or GED, documentation required.
  • College degree or some college course, preferred.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others including, but not limited to Project Managers, Engineers and Designers in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
