The Director of Magnet Designation serves as the principal administrative officer for the Magnet and Pathway to Excellence Program for all of Hackensack Meridian Health. The Magnet Designation Director will provide support to the Chief Nursing Executive to plan and predict strategies using the ANCC framework of nursing excellence. This position is accountable for supporting the activities of the Chief Nursing Executive and V.P.'s of Patient Care Services through the coordination of corporate projects, activities, and initiatives to support the Magnet and or Pathway designation. The Magnet Designation Director identifies opportunities to standardize structures and processes to support a culture of nursing excellence, improve the nurse environment, and achieve better patient outcomes across the network.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Director of Magnet Designation at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
  • Coordinates activities for designation across the network developing a vision, strategy, and plans for network wide designation, re-designation, and sustainability.
  • Oversee the coordination, education, and training of all Magnet Program Directors.
  • Maintains oversight and facilitates the preparation and submission of documentation, policies, research and informational sessions relative to maintaining ANCC Magnet status encompassing multiple sites.
  • Identifies, develops and maintains comprehensive data management systems that support information submission to the Magnet Program Office and enables accurate tracking of key performance indicators.
  • Acts as the liaison with the American Nurses Association, the American Nurses Credentialing Center and other agencies, as needed.
  • Reports and updates Regulatory and Accreditation Committee ensuring organizational standards compliance with regulating agencies.
  • Coordinates readiness assessment and leads the creation of gap analysis plan to reach Magnet or Pathway to excellence designation.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and resource to nursing leadership at every entity related to the Magnet Model and interpretation of Magnet standards.
  • Leads and develops activities required to maintain ANCC Magnet status by continuously searching for ways to improve patient outcomes using evidence-based practice and shared governance tenets.
  • Facilitates shared governance/shared decision making structures across multiple sites including Network Nursing Congress to guide and support the Professional Practice Model.
  • Oversees collection and submission of key nursing sensitive outcome indicators and develops quarterly and annual reporting for submission to executive leadership and the ANCC Magnet Program Office.
  • Contributes actively to the development of a culture of patient safety, quality, nursing research and innovation.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Minimum of 8 years nursing experience.
  • Experience as Magnet Program Director.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
  • More than 1 year experience in clinical education.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Current, unrestricted New Jersey State licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • Specialty certification in nursing.

Starting Minimum Rate
Minimum rate of $156,062.40 Annually
