Job designations are titles that specify a person's role within an organization, such as Software Engineer, Marketing Manager, Data Analyst, or Human Resources Coordinator. These titles often reflect the level of seniority, specialization, or department and can include variations like Senior, Junior, Lead, or Director. The specific designation depends on the industry, company structure, and job responsibilities.

Be part of something bigger. Build with us today — Now. For tomorrow.

At Baker Tilly, we care about the impact you make. That’s why we’re invested in your growth from day one—because the steps you take today define your tomorrow.

We are looking for a Designated Professional to join our team—a role where your expertise will drive meaningful outcomes and your ambition will help shape what comes next. Here, you’ll collaborate with a dynamic team of professionals, united by a shared commitment to making a difference—for our clients, our communities, and one another.

Baker Tilly is a leading advisory and accounting firm dedicated to building better futures. With global reach and local roots, we combine the scale of a network with the trust of strong relationships. From audit and tax to consulting and specialist advisory services, we help clients navigate complexity and seize opportunity with clarity.

“There is no limit to the growth opportunities at Baker Tilly. We pride ourselves on  promoting talent when we see it, and work with each professional to define what  success means for them.”

Your role

  • Lead and oversee assurance and accounting engagements, including planning, risk assessment, execution, and completion, ensuring files are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with professional standards.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships and providing timely, value-added insights.
  • Review financial statements, working papers, and tax filings prepared by team members, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
  • Coach, mentor, and support the development of staff and senior accountants through guidance, review, and collaboration.
  • Manage engagement workflow, timelines, and resources to ensure smooth and sustainable delivery.
  • Apply sound professional judgment in addressing technical matters, engagement issues, and client discussions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to enhancements in tools, templates, and methodologies.
  • Support firm initiatives, knowledge sharing, and business development activities in a manner aligned with interest and experience.
  • Model firm values and contribute positively to team culture, collaboration, and accountability.

What you bring to the table:

  • CPA designation in good standing, with 3-5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, assurance methodologies and/or income tax rules and regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead engagements, including planning, execution, workflow management, and high-quality file review.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching team members, supporting their development, and reviewing work with a focus on quality and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and oversee multiple engagements simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
  • Strong proficiency with CaseWare, TaxPrep, and related assurance and tax platforms, or the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
  • Bilingualism in French/English is considered an asset.

What’s in it for you?

  • Meaningful career growth through structured performance management, ongoing feedback, and opportunities to advance.
  • A competitive total rewards package, including paid overtime, comprehensive benefits, and RRSP matching.
  • Flexible work arrangements that empower you to balance life and career with confidence.
  • Summer hours so you can make the most of the season.
  • Enhanced protection benefits, including life, dependent life, critical illness, and accidental death & dismemberment coverage.
  • A Health Care Spending Account to support your individual wellness needs.
  • Annual fitness reimbursement to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
  • Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) offering confidential support whenever you need it.
  • Generous vacation entitlements that grow with your tenure.
  • Parental leave top‑up program to support you through life’s major milestones.
  • Paid sick days and bereavement leave to give you time when it matters most.
  • Client and employee referral incentives recognizing the value of your network.
  • Firm‑sponsored social events throughout the year that bring our teams together.
  • Paid time off for board service and volunteer activities, reflecting our commitment to community impact.

Your schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Position status:
