The Design Operations Manager partners with Store Design leadership and the broader design team to support a consistent operating rhythm across the function. This role creates structure, visibility, and follow-through across key initiatives, workflows, reporting, and business processes, helping ensure priorities, timelines, dependencies, and risks are clearly tracked and communicated. By connecting people, processes, tools, and information, the Design Operations Manager helps enable the team to improve productivity, execution quality, and focus on impactful store experiences at scale.
Responsibilities
Initiative Execution
• Plan, coordinate, and track key initiatives, including innovation pilots store rollouts and team priorities.
• Lead timelines, deliverables, and dependencies while supporting partner alignment and consistent progress.
• Identify and escalate risks, issues and roadblocks, partnering with team members to support timely resolution and maintain momentum.
Optimize Workflows & Operations
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve workflows, tools, templates that support efficient and consistent execution
• Lead workflow tracking, reporting, documentation and data management to ensure visibility, accuracy, and accountability across projects.
• Maintain operational systems and project data entry to ensure information remains current, organized, and actionable.
• Find opportunities to streamline processes, reduce inefficiencies, and improve team effectiveness.
• Support the development and monitoring of key performance metrics to assess operational health and inform continuous improvement efforts.
Team Enablement
• Support Design Leadership by maintaining awareness of priorities, workload, timelines, dependencies, and resource needs to inform planning and decision-making. Coordinate operational communication, meeting follow-ups, timelines, and action tracking across cross-functional partners.
• Lead daily project- related administrative and financial processes including purchase orders, invoice tracking, budget reporting, and project closeout activities.
• Ensure operational and financial workflows are executed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
• Support the adoption of new processes, tools, and ways of working in partnership with Design Leadership to improve consistency, productivity and execution, enabling the creative team to focus on high-value design work.
Qualifications
• 5-7+ years of experience in design operations, program management, project management, retail development, store operations, store design, or related operational roles within a corporate or matrixed environment.
• Experience supporting creative, design, architecture, or store development teams through operational coordination and process improvement with demonstrated success improving workflows, systems and tools to increase efficiency, consistency and quality
• Proven track record to partner with Design Leadership to support strategic planning, project execution, workflow operations, resource visibility and reporting.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working across creative, technical and business functions in addition to strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to use data and insights to inform decisions and improvements
• Experience leading project portfolios, operational systems, workflow platforms, and reporting tools with knowledge of financial operations, including budget tracking, purchase orders, invoicing and project lifecycle management.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, follow-through, and accountability.
• Skilled at bringing structure to ambiguity and driving results in fast-paced, evolving environments.
• Proactive and solutions oriented, with focus on execution and continuous improvement
• Clear and effective communicator, able to translate priorities, risks, and outcomes across stakeholder groups with a passion for enabling creative teams and improving how work is done
• Adaptable, proactive, and solutions-oriented, with a continuous improvement mindset while leading multiple priorities.
