Position Description
Enter information on in-lab computer.
Responsible for checking gradation of all aggregates and hot mix on a daily basis, to insure all requirements and specifications are met.
Communicate with the asphalt plant regarding quality and status of test results in order to ensure a quality product.
Mix Design - Design asphalt mixes in compliance with DOT specs..
Responsible for the regular quality control testing of all sand and gravel products being produced at various gravel pits.
Produce stockpile and job gradation reports on a regular basis.
Maintain a clean lab.
Assist with roller pattern, core cutting and nuclear gauge for test strips on all HMA jobs being produced.
Perform Pugmill gravel tests as needed.
Perform any other specific tasks assigned to you by your supervisor and management.
Willing to attend seminars relating to asphalt, sand, gravel and other road construction related topics.
Attend classes and fulfill all TDOT requirements for certification in becoming a Lab and Mix Design Technician.
Work together with fellow lab techs on special assignments, and as needed.
Position Requirements
Must have some knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Must have Math and Communication skills.
Willing to attend seminars relating to asphalt, sand, gravel and other road construction related topics.
Attend classes and fulfill all TDOT requirements for certification in becoming a Lab and Mix Design Technician.
Work well with fellow lab techs on special assignments as needed.
Must have valid driver license and insurable Motor Vehicle Record.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Workers should be able to: Follow specific directions; perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure; evaluate information using measurable standards.
Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see (naturally or with correction).
Work in inclement weather conditions including dusty, dirty, wet and muddy.
Must be available to work some Saturdays as needed.
