Description
A Cashier at Carlie C's IGA realizes that providing prompt and friendly customer service is priority #1. Being courteous and cooperative with both customer and coworker is a critical aspect of maximizing sales and building business for years to come.
Duties
  • Provide a smile and a friendly greeting to customers entering the store.
  • Effectively operate all functions of the cash register, including accurately counting cash,
  • Effectively process a variety of different types of payment from the customer, including: Cash, Checks, Credit/Debit Cards, Gift Certificates, Coupons, WIC Vouchers, and Food Benefit Cards.
  • Scan all merchandise presented by the customer while working together with the Bagger to make sure all items are accounted for.
  • Verify valid customer identification at the prompting of the register.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer throughout your shift.
  • For items that do not scan, verify the price and enter it manually using the correct dept. key.
  • For items that return an error message of "NOT ON FILE", document UPC on a Not On File form, verify price, and enter manually using the correct dept. key.
  • Efficiently bag items to maximize the number of items per bag, following Carlie C's bagging methods.
  • Maintain a clean and neat register, lane, and front end customer area.
  • Lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Help other cashiers bag groceries or perform other manager objectives when you do not have any customers.
