Democracy Now! Internships are paid, 20-hour per week, temporary work placements to help students, people early in their careers and career changers gain entry-level skills and experience in the fields of archiving and fundraising in a non-profit setting. Overview

Democracy Now!’s Fundraising and Outreach Internship is an exciting opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of non-profit fundraising in a dynamic, fast-paced, and supportive environment. The Development Department is responsible for planning and implementing the fundraising goals of Democracy Now!, as well as promoting Democracy Now! to a broad public audience. Interns work closely with Democracy Now! fundraising staff to interact with and steward donors and respond to viewers and listeners. Participants are also responsible for entry-level tasks that are both essential to the healthy functioning of the development department and help prepare them for full-time jobs in non-profit fundraising.

Session Dates

  • September 2026 – June 2027

Activities

  • Engage with Democracy Now! audience members and donors via email and telephone
  • Enter gift data and maintain donor relationship information in CiviCRM database
  • Fulfill donor thank you gift requests
  • Assist with donor and prospect research
  • Assist with producing development communications
  • Support the development team in the planning and execution of special events
  • Help to plan and coordinate volunteer activities
  • Represent Democracy Now! at local or on-site events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Democracy Now! and commitment to its mission
  • Authorization to work in the US
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong writing and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with MS Word and Excel or Google Workspace a plus
  • Attention to detail and strong customer service skills a plus

Compensation

  • $21 per hour
