Job Summary
The Oxford Mechanic role is primarily focused on the maintenance and operation of the Elevated Transport Vehicle (ETV). The Mechanic's first responsibility is keeping the ETV safe, reliable, and fully operational, with hands-on ownership of its mechanical systems, sensor systems, and monitor controls. The Mechanic also supports general facilities maintenance, including basic electrical and plumbing upkeep.
Hrly Rate: $25 to $27
Responsibilities
  • Will need to be able to handle sensor and monitor controls
  • Operate, position, and maneuver the ETV safely and proficiently during maintenance, testing, and service activities.
  • Monitor, interpret, and respond to the ETV's sensor systems and monitor controls, including positioning, safety interlock, and control system feedback.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all mechanical portions of the ETV, including drives, motors, electrical circuits, SICK ATR systems, and conveyor components, in accordance with diagrams, electrical drawings, operational manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, using hand tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Proficiently replace any mechanical device, structural portion, or support involved with the efficient, safe operation of the ETV.
  • Perform preventive maintenance: inspection, adjustment, cleaning, and replacement, and prepare follow-up CM work orders as needed.
  • React to call-outs from the Control Room Operator or manager, executing service calls (CM, PM, and EM).
  • Analyze root causes of electrical failures, propose remedies and resolutions, and continuously monitor for ways to improve and optimize the system.
  • Interpret schematics and engineering drawings in reference to layout, location, and operation of the system(s).
  • Perform basic plumbing maintenance and repairs in support of general facilities upkeep.
  • Perform basic electrical maintenance on facility systems, limited to single-phase 110v and lesser voltage connections under the oversight and approval of the Lead Mechanic.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical systems throughout the facility.

Minimum Requirements
  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule for a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Background check and drug screen required
  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge
  • Basic electircal, plumbing, and controls maintenance knowledge

Preferred Skills
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all mechanical portions of an ETV or similar automated material handling equipment.
  • Proficiency with sensor systems and monitor controls used in ETV operation.
  • Basic electrical maintenance skills: must be able to understand and work on single-phase 110v and lesser voltage connections under the oversight and approval of the Lead Mechanic.
  • Familiarity with 3-phase 480v connections; however, the Mechanic will only be responsible for working with voltages below 120v.
  • Basic plumbing maintenance skills for general facilities upkeep.
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a work crew.
  • Commitment to superior customer service and safe working practices at ALL times.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Employees will be working with and exposed to the ETV, facility systems, mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • Employees may be exposed to various noise levels due to operating equipment and machinery.
  • Employees bend, lean, and frequently work from ladders and scaffolding, including at elevated heights.
  • Employees are required to regularly speak and hear.
  • Employees are often required to reach with their hands and arms.
  • Employees may be required to perform a variety of activities that could include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing throughout their day.
  • Employees frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds with the help of teammates.
  • Employees will lift parts and tools for long periods of time and handle equipment such as transportation systems.
