Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of Sr. Territory Manager, the Demonstration Representative is responsible for, but not limited to, the day-to-day merchandising, rotation of products, orders, and demos/events involved in the distribution of Pets Global, Inc. products and merchandise. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. The use of discretion, confidentiality and independent judgement is critical in all aspects to the work performed within this position.

Territory: Portland, OR.
Reside in: Portland.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00
Employment Type: Friday-Sunday (Weekends only), Part-Time, Non-exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Pet industry experience is preferred but not necessary.
  • Some college or expanded training in Merchandising, Sales, Marketing, or relevant field is preferred.
  • Reliable Vehicle: Mileage will be paid at the IRS rate per mile for business miles driven.
  • Strong knowledge of Pets Global, Inc. products, and philosophy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English Competency).
  • Ability to work well under pressure while still maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and multitask.
  • Ability to prioritize and work both independently and in a team environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of the position.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, sit, and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Present the companyโ€™s products or services, including the explanation of products, methods, or services in order to generate new customers and sales within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Provide snacks and treats to accounts.
  • Responsible for meeting specified sales goals as set by management.
  • Merchandise (fill shelves, face and place POS materials) and rotate all PGI products in retail locations.
  • Identify interested and qualified customers in order to provide them with additional information.
  • Provide product samples, coupons, informational brochures, and other incentives to persuade people to buy products at various locations, retail outlets, street fairs, pet expos, etc.
  • Suggest specific product purchases to meet customersโ€™ needs.
  • Record and report demonstration-related information such as the number of questions asked by the audience and the number of coupons distributed.
  • Learn about competitorsโ€™ products and consumersโ€™ interests and concerns in order to answer questions and provide more complete information.
  • Administrative duties and meet deadlines. Demo Rep is responsible for, but not limited to Demo Log, Mileage, Motus, and other expense reports.
  • Weekly reports are to be completed in a timely manner (by end of week Sunday).
  • Must always maintain ethical sales behavior towards customers and store personnel.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Responsible for covering cost of travel and entertainment for job responsibilities and expenses. Minimum $1000 credit line availability is required to meet potential work-related expenses and will be reimbursed twice monthly.
  • Vehicle in good operating condition is required.
  • Current, valid driverโ€™s license and current insurance coverage with a minimum liability limit of 100,000/300,000 is required.
  • Work will be performed largely in the field (stores, conferences, expos, etc.) not at home base, with travel being at least 60%.
  • Hours of work will be a maximum of 24 hours per week.
  • Variation in work hours due to employee and customer schedules, special projects, deadlines, and other situations will exist and must be planned for accordingly.

SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT:

  • Adhere to all safety policies, rules and standard operating procedures established by Pets Global, Inc.
  • Inspect, correct, and maintain your workstation/environment to ensure it is free from hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • The employee is responsible for reporting all injuries and accidents, no matter how minor, immediately to your supervisor or the HR Manager.
  • Immediately report all observed unsafe acts and conditions to your supervisor or the HR Manager.
    Always report to work in an acceptable condition, not under the influence of any substance that could inhibit your ability to work safety or efficiently.
