Job description


The Intern, Operations Strategy Engineer assists with research, design, and develops capacity and demand planning models to improve ABF Freight's forecasting, costing, and operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities
  • Learn relationships between company assets and current and projected business levels. Company assets include equipment, labor, technology, and facilities.
  • Mathematically model and provide internal guidance on network capacity and demand trends.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, methods, and equipment to enhance operational efficiencies and reduce cost.
  • Understand costing inputs and methodologies and provide operational guidance for ABF Freight's shipment level costing model.
  • Evaluate measurement systems for the continual improvement of ABF Freight's processes and procedures.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects on analytics as required by VP's or other department heads.
  • Utilize knowledge and understanding of the quality process, Lean Six Sigma, and be able to apply tools or technology in business cases.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or other equivalent technical field, required
Experience:
  • No prior experience necessary
Computer Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, SQL, and other tools to execute analysis and manage projects.
Additional Requirements:
  • Understanding of engineering principles and statistical concepts.

Other Details
Work Hours:
