Job Overview
The Senior Demand Planner is responsible for developing, governing, and executing demand planning methodologies that support parts availability, service level objectives, and long-term supply chain performance for equipment fleets currently managed within CDK. This role serves as the organization's subject matter expert for fleet-based demand planning, leading the development of forecasting models, planning assumptions, and demand strategies for major components, rebuild programs, new product introductions, usage-driven demand, and high-risk inventory categories. The position partners closely with Service, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Inventory Planning teams to translate business requirements into actionable demand plans while supporting the design and implementation of future-state SAP S/4HANA planning capabilities. Additionally, the Senior Demand Planner is responsible for leading a team.
Key Job Responsibilities
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of four Demand Planners by setting priorities, providing performance feedback, supporting professional development, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
• Owns the development, governance, and continuous improvement of demand planning methodologies, forecasting standards, and planning assumptions supporting enterprise service level and inventory objectives.
• Develops and executes demand plans supporting the equipment fleets currently managed within CDK, ensuring alignment with business priorities and customer service expectations.
• Leads the development and maintenance of planning methodologies for major component programs, rebuild activity, new product introductions (NPI), usage- and system-driven demand, strategic stocking initiatives, and high-risk or constrained inventory categories.
• Partners with Service, Commercial, and Supply Chain leadership to develop baseline demand forecasts and incremental ("adder") demand plans that support business growth and customer requirements.
• Builds, maintains, and continuously improves forecasting models, analytical tools, and demand planning processes utilizing fleet population data, consumption trends, service demand, market drivers, and operational intelligence.
• Facilitates demand review processes and provides strategic recommendations regarding demand risks, inventory positioning, service level trade-offs, and supply chain opportunities.
• Collaborates with regional Inventory Planners to incorporate operational insights, customer demand signals, and market intelligence into enterprise demand planning models while ensuring alignment between strategic planning and inventory execution.
• Provides demand-driven business insights, scenario analysis, and risk assessments to support strategic decision-making by Supply Chain, Service, Commercial, and executive leadership teams.
• Identifies emerging demand risks and develops proactive planning strategies to improve inventory availability, customer satisfaction, and supply chain performance.
• Leads business process design, requirements development, testing support, and user adoption activities associated with SAP S/4HANA demand planning capabilities and future-state planning processes.
• Establishes planning performance metrics and monitors forecast accuracy, fill-rate attainment, and demand plan effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensures demand planning activities align with enterprise planning strategies, service level objectives, inventory productivity goals, and organizational priorities.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in demand planning, inventory planning, supply chain planning, forecasting, or related supply chain functions.
• Demonstrated experience developing demand forecasts, planning models, and analytical tools to support inventory and service level objectives.
• Experience working within ERP environments, preferably SAP and/or CDK.
• Proven ability to analyze complex data sets and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
• Experience collaborating across Supply Chain, Procurement, Service, Commercial, and Operations functions.
Travel Requirements
• Ability to travel up to 15-25% as required to support planning initiatives, business reviews, training, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Occasional travel to regional locations, distribution centers, and corporate offices.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
• APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent) preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of demand planning, forecasting methodologies, inventory management principles, and supply chain analytics.
• Experience supporting ERP implementations, system integrations, or planning transformations, preferably within SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business intelligence/reporting tools.
• Experience developing planning models utilizing fleet data, consumption trends, service demand, and market intelligence.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of service parts operations, aftermarket supply chains, or heavy equipment industries preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and process standardization initiatives.
• Advanced Demand Planning & Forecasting
Demonstrated expertise in developing demand forecasts, forecasting methodologies, and planning models utilizing historical consumption, fleet data, and market intelligence.
• Supply Chain Analytics & Data Modeling
Strong analytical skills with experience using data visualization, statistical analysis, forecasting tools, and advanced Excel to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• ERP & Planning Systems Experience
Experience working with SAP, SAP S/4HANA, CDK, or other enterprise planning and forecasting systems, including supporting system implementations or process enhancements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Business Partnership
Proven ability to partner effectively with Service, Commercial, Procurement, Inventory Planning, and Supply Chain teams to translate business requirements into actionable demand plans.
• Continuous Improvement & Strategic Thinking
Ability to evaluate planning processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement scalable solutions that improve forecast accuracy, service levels, and supply chain performance.
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The starting range for this role is 105,600.00 - 132,000.00. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
