Job description

We are seeking a commercially driven and audience-centric Head of Delegates to lead the development, launch, and scaling of Hyve’s delegate growth and engagement strategy across the Acquisitions & Best Practice portfolio, plus Connected Commerce, Mining Indaba and ASU+GSV.

Reporting to the President of Acquisitions & Best Practice, this is a strategic global leadership role focused on transforming how Hyve acquires, engages, retains, and monetises unattached delegates across the event lifecycle.

The successful candidate will oversee the inaugural Year 1 rollout of the new delegate blueprint, refining the strategy, operating model, and performance framework before supporting broader implementation across additional events and brands from Year 2 onwards.

This role focuses specifically on general attendee and unattached delegate audiences. key part of the role will be driving the Acquisitions & Best Practice & Connected Commerce delegate revenue performance, with responsibility for delivering delegate revenue targets of approximately $104m, while identifying new commercial and audience growth opportunities to expand performance year-on-year.

Working cross-functionally with Marketing, Content, Product, Commercial, and Operations teams, the Head of Delegates will create a scalable, commercially successful, and highly engaging delegate model that strengthens audience loyalty, drives revenue growth, and builds year-round community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Hyve’s delegate growth and engagement strategy across the Acquisitions & Best Practice & Connected Commerce portfolios
  • Oversee the Year 1 launch of the new delegate blueprint and refine the operating model based on commercial performance and audience insights
  • Support the phased rollout and embedding of the model across additional Hyve events and brands from Year 2 onwards
  • Develop long-term audience growth, retention, and engagement strategies that drive sustainable lifetime value
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across Acquisitions & Best Practice to align delegate strategies with broader business objectives
Audience Growth & Marketing
  • Drive acquisition strategies for new delegate audiences through innovative, content-led, and performance marketing initiatives
  • Build audience segmentation, engagement journeys, and lifecycle marketing programs designed to increase retention and repeat attendance
  • Partner closely with Marketing and Content teams to deliver high-performing campaigns and year-round audience engagement strategies
  • Develop sustained engagement touchpoints that extend beyond the live event cycle and strengthen community participation throughout the year
Commercial Performance & Revenue Growth
  • Own delegate growth and commercial performance metrics across relevant events and portfolios
  • Develop strategies to increase delegate revenue, retention, and conversion across both live and year-round offerings
  • Create and optimise upsell opportunities for delegates across add-ons, premium experiences, content, and community productsEstablish scalable lifetime value models and engagement pathways for different attendee types and audience segments
  • Delivering delegate revenue targets of approximately $104m ($77m Connected Commerce, Acquisitions & Best Practice & $27m MI & ASU+GSV), while identifying new commercial and audience growth opportunities to expand performance year-on-year
Team & Stakeholder Management
  • Help shape and build the delegate operating model alongside senior leadership
  • Work closely with dedicated sales and marketing resources operating within a matrix structure and dual reporting environment
  • Influence and align cross-functional teams across Marketing, Sales, Product, Content, and Operations
  • Support future team design and recruitment, including the potential build-out of additional delegate leadership and operational roles
  • Build strong working relationships with event leadership teams across the Acquisitions & Best Practice portfolio, including Mining Indaba and ASU+GSV
Key Skills & Experience

We are looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record in building and scaling audience, delegate, membership, or community programs within complex, high-growth organizations.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise across three core disciplines:

1. Audience & Content-Led Marketing
  • Strong understanding of audience acquisition, engagement, and lifecycle marketing strategies
  • Experience delivering content-led growth initiatives beyond traditional email and paid media channels
  • Ability to build year-round engagement strategies that create audience stickiness and loyalty
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience driving revenue growth, upsell performance, retention, and customer lifetime value
  • Ability to balance audience experience with commercial outcomes
  • Experience working closely with sales functions and commercial leadership teams
3. Community & Audience Management
  • Experience building and managing large-scale audience, delegate, subscription, membership, or loyalty programs
  • Deep understanding of engagement, retention, and audience development strategies
  • Proven ability to create community ecosystems that extend beyond a single event or transaction
