Location : Hybrid NYC

Position Overview

As a Business Analyst in the Testing Center of Excellence (TCoE), the candidate plays a key role in ensuring that business requirements are accurately translated into actionable, testable specifications. The candidate helps embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle by clarifying requirements and supporting development, QA, and UAT teams.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Leadership and Business Analysis

  • Lead requirements gathering through workshops, interviews, and cross-functional sessions.
  • Produce comprehensive documentation (BRDs, use cases, user stories, process flows).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prepare impact analysis documentation for change requests, identify potential impacts, risks, and dependencies, assessing effects on business and technical processes, and reviewing the scope of testing.
  • Rapidly master utility business processes.
  • Drive consensus and alignment among IT, QA, Operations, and Business Leadership.
  • Provide input and feedback to the QA team on test coverage, strategy, and planning to support alignment with project requirements.

Requirements Analysis Skills

  • Conduct detailed requirements analysis to ensure all specifications are clear, testable, and unambiguous.
  • Decompose high-level business capabilities into epics, features, and user stories that are atomic and actionable.
  • Facilitate stakeholder collaboration to validate those requirements reflect true business needs.
  • Review requirements for completeness, consistency, and feasibility, ensuring alignment with project scope and technical capabilities.
  • Apply design thinking principles (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test) to refine requirements and deliver stakeholder-focused solutions.

Testing Strategy, Governance, and Optimization

  • Support TCoE governance by establishing and maintaining end-to-end requirements traceability.
  • Act as the go-to expert during test planning, execution, and defect triage.
  • Champion process maturity, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives within QA.
  • Translate operational needs into precise, testable system specifications focused on reliability and compliance.

Project Delivery and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with project teams for release planning, risk assessment, and go-live readiness.
  • Support requirements clarification during functional and UAT testing phases.
  • Assist with defect analysis and participate in defect triage meetings.
  • Translate business needs and system impacts for technical teams and leadership to ensure shared understanding.
  • Review knowledge management systems for best practices and training improvements.
  • Contribute to continuous optimization of testing processes, including automation, cloud, and AI-powered tools.
  • Support a metrics-driven approach to testing through dashboards and KPI reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years of progressive, hands-on Business Analyst or Systems Analyst experience in enterprise environments.
  • Utility Domain Expertise: Practical experience with at least one of the following systems or equivalent platforms:

o  Outage Management System (OMS)

o  Oracle Utilities Analytics (OUA)

o  Geographic Information System (GIS)

o  Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)

o  Customer Care and Billing (CC&B)

o  Work Management Systems (for example, IBM Maximo)

  • Core Competencies:
    • Proven expertise in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and management.
    • Strong process mapping (AS-IS/TO-BE), workflow documentation, and stakeholder management.
    • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • Certifications: IIBA-CBAP, IIBA-CCBA, PMI-PBA.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with test management tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, ALM), SQL proficiency, and familiarity with functional, acceptance, regression, and system integration testing.
  • Emerging Technologies: Experience with Generative AI tools for requirements analysis, test case generation, or test automation. Knowledge of AI-powered testing platforms (for example, ACCELQ, testRigor).
  • TCOE Experience: Previous work within a Testing Center of Excellence or Quality Engineering organization.
  • Methodologies: Experience with both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum frameworks.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of utility regulatory compliance (NERC, PSC, FERC).
