Required Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in English composition, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and oral communication.ย 
  • Ability to listen to complex medical information and summarize it clearly, completely, and concisely.ย 
  • Understanding medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment protocols.ย 
  • Ability to interpret and expand medical abbreviations appropriately.ย 
  • Strong reasoning and analytical skills, with the ability to apply logic, use reference materials, and problem-solve independently.ย 
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet research.ย 
  • Ability to learn and use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and transcription systems efficiently.ย 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to type quickly and accurately.ย 
  • Must adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.ย 
  • Familiarity with cosmetic and reconstructive procedures preferred.ย 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism in all interactions.ย 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and thoroughly document all components of medical visits and procedures as performed by the physician.ย 
  • Record patient medical history, physical examinations, procedures, treatments, and education provided by healthcare professionals.ย 
  • Document physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, and follow-up instructions.ย 
  • Prepare referral letters and operative reports as directed by the physician.ย 
  • Perform clerical tasks including faxing, phone calls, and coordination of referrals as assigned.ย 
  • Identify and correct inconsistencies or errors in medical documentation; ensure all addenda are reviewed and signed by the physician.ย 
  • Record all clinical data, test results, and physician interpretations accurately in the medical record.ย 
  • Alert the physician when charts or documentation are incomplete.ย 
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA standards and confidentiality of all patient information.ย 
  • Attend required training sessions related to IT systems, HIPAA, billing, coding, and compliance.ย 
  • Proofread and edit all physician documentation for accuracy, spelling, grammar, and formatting.ย 
  • Quickly learn and adapt to new processes, technologies, and compliance requirements.ย 
  • Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and workflow demands as needed.ย

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • College coursework or degree in a healthcare or science-related field preferred.
  • Completion of a medical scribe training program preferred.

Location: Brooklyn (on-site)

Compensation: $17.00-$18.00
