Required Experience:ย ย 
  • Minimum of one (1) year of scrub experience in an operating room setting.ย 
  • Experience with cosmetic and reconstructive procedures preferredย 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive manual tasksย 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.ย 
  • Exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, radiation, and other clinical hazards.ย 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress surgical environment with variable hoursย 
  • Role requires access to electronic and paper medical records and related patient informationย in accordance withย HIPAA and organizational policyย 
ย 

Keyย Responsibilities:ย ย 

Patient Care and Clinical Supportย 

  • Scrub for ambulatory surgical proceduresย in accordance withย approved clinical protocolsย 
  • Prepare, assemble, and organize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies based on procedure and surgeon preference cardsย 
  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and operating room standardsย 
  • Inspect, test, and ensure functionality of instruments and equipment prior to useย 
  • Anticipate procedural needs andย maintainย continuous availability of instruments and supplies during surgeryย 
  • Perform surgical counts in coordination with the circulating nurseย 
  • Identifyย and report breaks in sterile technique and takeย appropriate correctiveย actionย 
  • Assistย with turnover, restocking, and preparation for upcoming proceduresย 
  • Review surgical schedules and prepare supplies in advanceย 
ย Equipment & Instrument Managementย 
  • Properly handle, clean, sterilize, and store surgical instruments and equipmentย 
  • Maintain and update instrument trays and surgeon preference cardsย 
  • Ensure the operating room is fullyย always stocked and ready for proceduresย 
Safety, Compliance & Qualityย 
  • Comply withย patient safety, infection control, and organizational policiesย 
  • Identifyย unsafe conditions or practices and report concerns throughย appropriate channelsย 
  • Support performance improvement and quality initiatives as assignedย 
Communication & Professional Conductย 
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with physicians, patients, visitors, and staffย 
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accuratelyย 
  • Maintain respectful workplace behavior and professional standards in the operating roomย 
Financial Stewardshipย 
  • Use supplies and facility resources responsiblyย 
  • Recommend cost-effective improvements when appropriateย 

Professional Developmentย

Education/Credentialsย Requirement:ย ย 

  • High school diploma or GEDย requiredย 
  • Diploma from an accredited Surgical Technology program (trade school or associate degree)ย requiredย 
  • Current national certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)ย requiredย (credential must be active)ย 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Associationย requiredย 
  • New York State Infection Control Trainingย 
  • New York State Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Trainingย ย

Compensation: $35.00-$52.00ย
