Job description

Automotive Sales Performance Coach & Trainer

Chapman Automotive Group – Tucson, Arizona

Chapman Automotive Group is seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Automotive Sales Performance Coach & Trainer to support the continued growth and development of our multi-franchise dealership operations in Tucson, Arizona.

This position is ideal for an automotive professional who combines strong retail automotive experience with a passion for coaching, performance improvement, accountability, and employee development. The successful candidate will work closely with dealership leadership, sales managers, and sales consultants to improve performance, strengthen customer communication, drive process consistency, and develop future leaders.

This position is critical to the success of our stores. Many of our salespeople enter the automotive industry with little or no experience, and this role is responsible for providing foundational training before they ever interact with customers, followed by ongoing coaching, development, and accountability throughout their careers.

The majority of our dealerships operate under a One Point of Contact (A2Z) sales process, while several locations utilize a more traditional sales and F&I structure. The ideal candidate will be comfortable training and coaching employees in both environments.

This role reports directly to the Executive Vice President and works closely with General Managers, Sales Managers, and dealership leadership teams across all Tucson operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead onboarding and foundational training for new sales associates
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development for sales teams and sales leadership
  • Monitor, analyze, and track key sales performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Partner with sales managers and dealership leadership to identify opportunities and develop action plans
  • Coach teams on customer engagement, follow-up, CRM utilization, sales processes, and accountability
  • Conduct individual coaching sessions, classroom training, and group workshops
  • Improve the quality, effectiveness, and consistency of customer communications throughout the sales cycle
  • Support the adoption and utilization of dealership technology platforms and software systems
  • Develop future sales and management talent within the organization
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and professional development

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of successful automotive retail experience
  • Previous experience as a Sales Manager, Finance Manager, General Sales Manager, Trainer, or other dealership leadership role preferred
  • Strong understanding of automotive sales, finance, customer experience, and dealership operations
  • Familiarity with One Point of Contact sales processes strongly preferred
  • Ability to work effectively within both One Point of Contact and traditional sales/F&I dealership environments
  • Experience utilizing and coaching teams on CRM systems and customer engagement platforms
  • Strong understanding of automotive performance metrics and KPIs
  • Working knowledge of CRM platforms, DMS systems, vAuto, data mining, and dealership reporting tools preferred
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, coaching, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of influencing performance and driving accountability at all levels of the sales organization, from newly hired sales consultants to sales managers and general sales managers

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits
  • Professional development and ongoing training opportunities
  • Growth opportunities within one of Arizona's leading automotive organizations
  • Collaborative and performance-focused culture
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on employee development, dealership performance, and customer satisfaction across multiple franchises

If you are passionate about developing people, building high-performing teams, and helping others succeed in automotive retail, we'd like to hear from you.
