Job Summary:

Salas O’Brien is seeking an Electrical Engineer who will be responsible for the design of various electrical systems, including but not limited to DCS control systems, PLC control systems, low voltage power distribution, networking and communications design, and process controls design within industrial and utility infrastructure spaces.

Job duties include:

  • Execute projects with involvement from conceptual design through completion, working with other engineers and design team members.
  • Perform calculations integral to the electrical systems design.
  • Leverage knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCSs), power distribution, network architecture design, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Design systems in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC – NFPA70)
  • Prepare instrumentation datasheets and maintain an up-to-date instrument list.
  • Participate in and support design and/or coordination reviews with clients and other project team members.
  • Collaborate with and support engineers and project managers across various projects.
  • Work closely with vendors to support vendor-submitted data for technical reviews and production.
  • Oversee assigned project efforts to ensure adherence to budget and schedule.
  • Capable of increasing technical competency with experience and work ethic.
  • The position requires travel up to 20% of the time to various unanticipated client locations throughout the United States

Minimum Qualifications:

  • U.S. Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or the foreign degree equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in the design of electrical systems for various types of industrial manufacturing facilities and utility infrastructure spaces
  • Experience with industrial instrumentation and controls
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCSs) is preferred
  • PE license or willing to pursue obtaining your Professional Engineers license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred, but not required
