POSITION: Math Teacher (8th)
LOCATION: Merry Acres Middle School
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a middle school math teacher to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals. The teacher will be responsible for preparing and implementing engaging lessons that address the academic needs and rigor of all students while providing a positive learning environment that encourages lifelong learners.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelors' degree or higher;
  2. Valid Georgia Teacher certification or Charter Waiver Eligible;
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  2. Ability to relate to and motivate all students in a positive manner with respect;
  3. Ability to effectively navigate and utilize a wide range of educational and career-related technology tools, software applications, and digital platforms while engaging students;
  4. Ability to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance;
  2. Be present, organized, and enthusiastically committed to the success of all students;
  3. Develops detailed, engaging instructional plans;
  4. Develops and uses formative and summative assessments;
  5. Instructs designed classes in accordance with formulated plans and outlines, modified as necessary to achieve the learning objectives; all within the policies of the school system;
  6. Maintains the degree of discipline and order in the classroom necessary to effectively instruct students;
  7. Counsels with students and parents on learning and discipline problems as necessary;
  8. Supervises or assists in the supervision of school activities as assigned;
  9. Performs related duties as assigned as circumstances require;
  10. Completes all records and reports on time and with accuracy;
  11. Maintains satisfactory performance on the system Evaluation Instrument;
  12. Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Principal/Supervisor.

REPORTS TO: Principal
