Job Description:

  • Operate a variety of equipment at an aggregate facility as directed by supervision.
  • Operate mine related trucks in a safe and efficient manner in a variety of different project situations.
  • This position is non-union

Shift/Schedule: Day Shift
Location is at our south Columbus facility - Hwy 23 and I-270.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Operate haul truck and water truck
  • Load/dump material correctly and efficiently
  • Keep ground watered to control dust at plant
  • Ensure all safety guidelines are followed
  • Operate track excavators, back hoes, dozers, loaders, rollers, forklifts, and other pieces of equipment.
  • Observe operation of equipment to detect malfunction and informs supervisor when malfunction occurs.
  • Maintain the processing equipment within the general guidelines for each piece of processing machinery as directed.
  • Record and maintains accurate maintenance records and forms.
  • Responsible for the inspection and maintenance of conveyor, screen, and crusher.
  • Responsible for greasing, lubrication and general repair of equipment including welding.
  • Perform other routine duties as directed by Foreman.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience with operating procedures of multiple types of trucks
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have basic knowledge of proper operating procedures of multiple types of equipment.
  • Must be capable of operating the assigned machine and any other related equipment in a safe manner must be able to do a competent inspection of the equipment.
  • Must be able to safely and efficiently maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
  • Must be able to back trucks and trailers safely and proficiently
  • Must be capable of operating the assigned truck in a safe manner so as not to jeopardize his safety, the safety of others around him and all other related equipment
  • Must be able to drive a truck with a clutch
  • Must be able to climb stairs or ladders to access in and out of truck
  • Must be able to strap and secure items loaded on truck
  • Must be able to maintain high level of awareness for a busy project work environment
  • Must be able to stoop and bend as required
  • Must be able to maintain physical strength and stamina
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and feet
  • Must be able to use arms, hands, and legs fully
  • Must be able to maintain three points of contact while entering, exiting, or inspecting equipment
  • Must be able to sit for long periods in equipment while traveling over rough terrain
  • Must be able to do a competent inspection of the truck including fluids
  • Must be able to apply and retain information provided in crew meetings
  • Must be able to understand directions/instructions on methods/process to do work
  • Must have basic knowledge of proper operating procedures of multiple types of trucks
