Assistant Project Manager – Panel Shop

Champlin, MN | Hybrid | $55,978–$69,972 + Potential Bonus

Our client is looking for an Assistant Project Manager – Panel Shop to support the planning and execution of control panel assembly and engineering projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an electrical, controls, manufacturing, or project coordination background who wants to build a career managing industrial automation projects.

You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers, engineers, panel technicians, vendors, and customers while gaining exposure to control panel design, UL 508A, industrial automation, PLC/HMI systems, procurement, estimating, and project management.

What You'll Do

  • Support Project Managers with project planning, sales, execution, and closeout.
  • Coordinate with customers, engineers, vendors, panel shop personnel, and other project stakeholders.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project information to identify requirements.
  • Track project labor, materials, costs, schedules, and progress.
  • Create purchase orders and coordinate material procurement with vendors.
  • Assist with vendor and supply chain management.
  • Attend project kickoff meetings, sales calls, and post-project reviews.
  • Help resolve design and build issues between customers, engineering, and the panel shop.
  • Support long-term customer relationships.
  • Provide ongoing project tracking and reporting.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and quality.

What We're Looking For

  • Two-year degree, technical/Vo-Tech certificate, or 2 years of related electrical experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business management or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with control panel systems, electrical installation, or industrial controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Google Workspace skills.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Experience That Will Set You Apart

  • UL 508A panel shop construction, assembly, or sales experience.
  • Industrial automation and controls integration knowledge.
  • Ability to read electrical control and power schematics.
  • Experience with job costing, budgets, scheduling, or estimating.
  • MRP/ERP system experience.
  • Estimating software experience.
  • Manufacturing or OEM controls experience.

Compensation & Benefits

$55,978–$69,972, based on experience, education, and skills, plus potential annual discretionary bonus.
