Job description

Rocha Controls is a full-service company specializing in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, computer networks, programmable logic controller (PLC) systems, telemetry, instrumentation, and variable frequency drive and motor control center installations. We are seeking a self-motivated and effective Control Panel Shop Technician.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct industrial control panels, including layout, drilling, tapping, and mounting of devices
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics to accurately wire components
  • Perform field equipment wiring, including conduit installation, wire pulling, and device terminations
  • Support functional testing of equipment by working with programmers and QC to verify system performance
  • Participate in manufacturing checkouts and customer factory acceptance tests (FATs)
  • Apply knowledge of control protocols such as I/O Link, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial communication standards
  • Ensure all work meets company and industry quality standards and compliance with UL standards.
  • Engage with external customers during shop tests or reviews as needed
  • Assist with inventory cycle counts and keep materials well-organized and labeled
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to quality, and safety initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience in control panel building
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments
  • Experience with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
  • Familiarity with industrial PLCs and operator interface terminal (OIT) programming is a plus
