Job description

Panel Shop Technician role is based onsight at Cross Companyโ€™s PSG UL 508A Panel Shop in Knoxville, TN. We build custom control panels for high end clients in the pharmaceutical, municipal water, and process industries. These are not assembly line builds. Every project is an engineer to order, a system that requires high attention to detail. Technicians work alongside other master level panel builders to the technical standards and professional expectations behind mission critical industrial systems. You will be involved in client interactions and may have exposure to customers during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and other project review points.
Key Responsibilities and Growth Objectives:
Panel Build and Shop Fundamentals
โ— Read and build from custom electrical schematics with guidance from senior builders.
โ— Assist with physical panel layout/cutouts, component mounting, wiring, and labeling. Complete established tasks within prescribed timelines to support our internal and external customer requirements.

โ— Display the principles of industrial craftsmanship, including neatness and consistency.
โ— Support internal testing and verification to ensure the build meets design specs.
Tools and Safety
โ— Safely operate hand tools and shop equipment such as drills, saws, and grinders.
โ— Follow all PPE requirements and maintain risk awareness in a shop environment.
โ— Manage hardware and components to ensure an organized workflow.
Quality and Professionalism
โ— Follow UL 508A shop culture and quality standards.
โ— Use documented checklists to self check work and prevent rework.
โ— Communicate clearly with shop leadership regarding task readiness and parts availability. Follow Cross guidelines on internal and external communication best practices.
โ— Collaborate across groups including engineering and project management. Support and collaborate with the Electrical Design Team as needed.
Support Shipping and Receiving as delegated by the Panel Shop Foreman.
This is a billable position with monthly metrics for transparency within the PSG and the greater Cross Company.
Maintain an ownership mentality and colaborative mindset.
Minimum Requirements:
Documented Electrical Knowledge and Previous Panel Build Experience
