Job description

The opportunity

The OTPP Collateral team oversees all enterprise margin activity for the Fund, covering both bilateral and cleared products. This buyside role provides meaningful visibility across the organization, including interactions with senior leaders from multiple divisions-relating to topics such as counterparty credit risk, inventory management, collateral eligibility, and margin optimization

As a Manager, Collateral, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing daily collateral management activities, maintaining operational resilience, and supporting the ongoing enhancement of processes and controls. Beyond managing core functions, the position contributes to major crossfunctional initiatives within Public Markets Operations and across other OTPP business areas.

The role also provides critical oversight in support of OTPP's counterparty risk management and collateral resiliency frameworks. It offers an opportunity to influence important outcomes, strengthen core operational infrastructure, and support the development of a highperforming team.

Who you'll work with

Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role leads a team of skilled professionals responsible for margin operations and securities collateral movements under the broader Public Investments Operations group within the Finance Division. In managing Teachers' enterprise margin and collateral activities, the Collateral team works closely with both the Treasury and Credit Risk teams.

What you'll do
  • Oversee Daily Margin & Collateral Operations - Provide leadership and oversight of daily collateral activities spanning across agreements such as Bilateral & Cleared Derivatives, Repo, Prime Brokers and Centrally Cleared products. Address escalated issues impacting operational integrity, risk reporting, or liquidity reporting.

  • Strengthen Operational Risk & Control Frameworks - Develop, maintain, and enhance financial and operational controls, ensuring policies, procedures, and documentation are current, effective, and aligned with reporting requirements. Safeguard the accuracy of data across core systems, including the collateral book of record, custodian and collateral service providers.

  • Lead & Develop the Team - Manage, coach, and develop a team responsible for daily activities under time sensitive deadlines intraday. Oversee recruitment, performance management, and ongoing skill development to support team growth and operational excellence.

  • Drive Continuous Improvements & Transformation - Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce operational risk, and support scalability. Ensure operational readiness and alignment when implementing new business strategies, system enhancements, or data/reporting changes.

  • Deliver on Strategic Initiatives & Projects - Support or own the execution of key projects by assessing requirements, analyzing solutions, evaluating operational impacts, and recommending the best course of action.

  • Foster Strong Internal & External Partnerships - Collaborate with internal teams (including Treasury, Risk, Legal, Investments, other Finance teams) to ensure effective support, timely issue resolution, and alignment on business needs. Serve as the primary operational contact for external stakeholders such as counterparties, custodians, brokers, and clearing agents, escalating issues as necessary.

What you'll need
  • Education & Credentials - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; professional designations such as CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) or CFA are considered strong assets.

  • Industry & Functional Expertise - Significant experience (8-10 years) in Investment Operations, specifically with collateral management expertise such as a deep understanding of ISDA CSA/GMRA agreements, cleared margin activities, regulatory collateral initiatives (SIMM, Sponsored Repo), collateral management services, and buy-side investment operations.

  • Leadership & Change Capability - Proven ability to lead teams, inspire performance, and champion change initiatives that drive measurable operational improvements with experience in a leadership or peoplemanagement role.

  • Collaboration & Relationship Building - Strong interpersonal skills with experience partnering across diverse teams and working with senior leaders to navigate complex structures and support informed decisionmaking.

  • Execution Excellence - Demonstrated success in coordinating crossfunctional initiatives, delivering process enhancements, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Technical Experience - Strong technical knowledge of Business Intelligence solutions & visualization tools (e.g. Power BI); Experience with database tools used for analysis (e.g. SQL, Python, Snowflake); Experience with various collateral platforms (e.g. OMS, Acadia, TriOptima, Triparty custodians)

What we're offering

Pay-for-performance with base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance. The Base Salary range for this level is as follows: $105,000 - $155,000. Individual compensation and placement of this role in the range is based on different factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, demonstrated competencies, and internal equity as they relate to the role.
